Okay, somebody has to say it! Gopher
hunting is not allowed on the Prairies. Say that at a gas station and people will wonder what you mean.

(Easy boys, I'm just having some fun here!)
Now, if you were to say, "I'm going
shootin' gophers," most of us will know exactly what you mean, and either suggest good places to shoot, or try to get you you to tell where the gophers are!
Last year was a bummer in some areas. Cold weather, rain, snow, etc. killed off a huge %, making it tricky to find a good spot. My usual gopher patch was barren, but I did stumble on a real hot spot in western Manitoba. That little field was good for four days of heavy shooting!
It is risky trying to foretell the good spots at this time of the year, as crappy weather can ruin things so easily. When conditions are good, there are more than enough gophers for everybody. There are people coming to western Saskatchewan from all over for the express purpose of doing their civic duty of shooting gophers.
You could PM me with your contact info and if (BIG IF) there seems to be a good year for gophers in the offing, Id be happy to let you know.
P.S. You don't need a $5000 super dooper pooper scooper rifle and Olympic class scope, range finder, $80,000 truck plus any other fancy equipment for shootin' gophers. Just show up and we will set you up.
** I am not a boozer, so don't get all excited over that. Just sayin'.
