I have never been, me and a friend were looking to give it a go. Any suggestions for good crown land in an around the calgary area?

Thankee in advance for all ideas and suggestions!

Take a drive out to Airdrie and head east and west stopping at any grazing pastures attached to farms and ask permission. Most people will let you walk the fields and shoot gophers, badgers and coyotes with no problem, provided you stay away from livestock and don't shoot in the direction of buildings.
I've got fields all over the country side that way.

This is what i have done this year near edmonton and found good success

I would drive an hour from the city before I start asking land owners. There is a better chance that the further you are from the city that the land owner will truly be a farmer or rancher. Some one who makes their livelyhood from the land will be happy to have you do some pest control. If they are retirees or acreage owners who can afford to live outside the city they may not be as happy to have you there.

Here are a couple tips as well

Ask if they want coyote, fox, badger, etc controlled as well as gophers. (One place where I hunt they say leave coyotes as they also keep gophers down but another spot has some sheep so they want all predators gone.)

Always be sure to leave gates as you found them, even if you only plan to be a "little while", as when the action gets hot you will forget about everything else in life.
