It's that time of year again, the gophers are running around the fields and given last years dry weather, they're out in full force this spring in SE Sask. I thought I'd upload a couple pictures from this season (forgive me for blacking out our faces, I don't need "antis" or someone getting my face to post all over thee internet),, as well as some of mine and my brothers favourites gopher guns (as well as some we regretfully sold over the years...). But let's see some pictures, favourite guns, favourite pictures from the field, your favourite load, everything welcome!

Here's one of my brother and I in a close friends pasture. I'm shootings my LH rem 700 sps varmint in 17 fireball, vortex crossfire 4-16x50 scope on top. Loaded with my 20/20 special (20gr 8208 xbr powder, 20gr norsler varmageddon FBHP bullets, 4050 fps). It's a laser beam on gophers out to 200 yards and sometimes further (if we get a rare, windless day here in SE Sask). My brother shooting his CZ 452 in 17 hmr with a vortex crossfire 2 3-9x50 BDC in the distance. Talk about a guy that "knows his gun" he was hitting 2:1 and sometimes 3:1 ratio to my self off shooting sticks, no bipod, probably close to 85% hit-to-miss ratio for him that day, (I said "my scope was off that day" that's always my excuse lol).

Here's a little better picture of my 17 fireball from the long weekend!

Here is a picture of my brother and I from this spring. I switched off, shooting my LH Browning A-Bolt Micro 2 in .22 Hornet. That rifle hold close to my heart, I actively searched for almost 5 years all over Canada and into the USA for it. The second I'd get a lead on one or found one, it would be sold or gone by the time I got a hold of the owner, or such a ridiculous price, I couldn't justify the price. Patients paid off though, a tip from a close friend lead me to an auction house and I finally got one. Surprisingly, it was NIB and un-fired, given the last production run was 5 years previous, I was very happy! 12.6 gr of lil gun and a 40gr vmax will easily whack gophers out to 300 yards. My brother again with his CZ 452 in 17 hmr!

No decent field pictures, but here's my brother's beloved 10/22. On a good day, it'll shoot a jagged hole @100 yards using good ammo. Volqartsen barrel, trigger sear, KIDD buffer, Dlask over sized mag release, bolt handle and spring kit, Millet 5-25x50 (30mm tube) scope, on an all metal stainless ruger 10/22 receiver, sitting in a gorgeous revolution stock. Surprisingly clear piece of glass and devistating in the gopher field! 10 shots as fast as you can pull the trigger.

And finally "the one that got away" this gorgeous factory rem 700 in .17 fireball. It was a 2007 limited edition run. Engraved floor plate, 26" stainless fluted heavy barrel. Dropped into a Boyd's thumbhole stock, glass + pillar bedded, trigger worked over so that it broke like glass @ 2.5 lbs. bushnell elite 4200 6-24x40 BDC scope. The current owner loves it to death and shoots it all summer long, but it's definitely missed in my brothers collection! It was one of the most gorgeous and accurate gopher guns we ever set our hands on....
Good luck to everything this season and shoot straight!!
