I was visiting family south and east of Cypress Hills(Robsart rural area to be exact). There wasn't the numbers that I'm hearing about further east and north, but quite a few still.
I did my "civic duty" and drove down to Mankota on July 25. I shot all that afternoon and the next day from 8:00 am until about 1:00 pm in a small area, up and down a road, about 3/4 mile back and forth, both sides of the road. The gophers have eaten all the sown crop and have paths in the ditch and along the fenceline, just like little cowpaths. Unbelievable until you actually see it. I used a stainless 10/22, no scope and my old Savage 22/20ga. I know where I'm going next spring!!
