Gophers are out

I have shot some ground hogs in Manitoba but they are few and far between

gophers on the other hand on a heavily infested field you can shoot a brick in an afternoon

Can gophers make for good eating? I don't personally know anyone that have tried them... would like to get an unbiased opinion on the taste of the meat (YouTube has all kinds of crazies on there).

Yes as long as you put lots of salt & pepper on them. BBQ & eat with the skin on. I'm sure you will like it.

Funny looking at those small gophers Ontario ground hogs are almost twice the size must b a pretty small target past 300 yards

Gophers, (Richardson Ground Squirrels), are not very big, maybe 6-8 inches plus the tail. If you are shooting them out to 300 yards then that is some pretty fine shooting. Ontario groundhogs are giants by comparison.

They are eatable, as are most critters out there. I ate them as a teen while running with some native boys. The mon cooked up hind legs. Other animals were in stew. If you can eat oysters (I do) you should be able to eat anything.

It would be interesting to try some sausage made of gopher, coyote and seal meat, it would be a true Canadian blend.
