I went to the range today with the Savage Mark II-FV that I picked up off a fellow CGN'er. The wind was really strong but I just had to get out and sight in the new scope I mounted on it. After a few shots I had this thing really shooting (well by my standards)...even with the cheap Dynapoints that I was using. Here's a pic of my target from 25m. I am not sure how many rounds I put into that target but there were a lot of them that were going right through the already blown out hole. I'm super excited as this is my first rimfire and now I think I'm addicted.

Let's hope it stays windy and all the gophers are at 25m:p
That's always nice when the shot clusters form like that - nice shooting!

nice.
i'm hoping to hit the range today after work, but the clouds... they look cloudy and rainy. i haven't shot out to 50m in a while but i'm really wanting to. plus i want to try out my new bipod. curse you cloudy clouds! you make my choices hard!

oh ya, how does the acutrigger work, and why does it have that thing on the front of the trigger? i was originally going to get a savage but i really liked the look of the marlin 981t so i bought it instead. it really killed me how i didn't have an acutrigger, buuut my rifle shoots pretty well so i'm still super happy.

I was hoping to get out to the 50m mark today today but it was just too darn windy and started to rain. I really like the Accutrigger. I have one on my 30-06 and love it. I'm not an expert by any means but it feels pretty nice and crisp to me. I have the triggers on both guns adjusted down to around 3lbs.

Are there really gophers in Saskatchewan?

.
Just kidding guys. About 3 weeks ago, I spent 3 days in southern Saskatchewan, shooting gophers.

I used a Savage Mark II BV and took along a Savage Mark II FV as a backup. For the price, they are probably one of the better bargains out there for a .22 varmint rifle.

Now I know that a lot will disagree with that, and future posts will question my sanity and parentage, but my Savages will shoot right alongside my cherished Remington 513 Sporter.

You have a good rifle for shooting the little varmints. I shoot out to 125 yards with my .22s, but I use a rangefinder, know there the rifle hits at various ranges, and have done a lot of shooting.

That does'nt look like a beaver it's more like a fish, haha, good job. I love my savages as well I got a BVSS 17Hmr & the one from the shot show with the accutrigger & the thumbhole in 17Hmr as well, I barely use my 10-22 anymore, the ammo is not that expensive for the 17Hmr at least I don't think so after owning a couple Weatherby's!!!!!!!!

...that's some good work at 25m there Heiner. Good choice of rifle and the rifleman behind it is doing his part too. Addictive those rimfires are!!!

Cheers,
Mad Mikey:p
