Two last weekend. One had seven babies, the other had 5 babies inside them.
.223 50 gr VMax, bullet completely fragmented and it did not exit, stayed inside for an instant kill.

So with two bullets you knocked off 14 gophers. Thats 12 that others won't be able to shoot.
That why I don't push the season....let the young'ns get born....more to shoot later.

About a week and a half ago I went out for a couple days with my Dad and my Mom's husband. We had about 550 confirmed (saw the hit or dead gopher above ground) and probably another hundred 'maybies'. All in winds from 0-50km/h as we were North of Cowley, AB by a few miles. Great time but really wish we had brought along a centrefire with us as some shots were a little long for a .17HMR in the wind
