Gophers in full swing

Well if I cant get into my field tomorrow (muddy) I will try to zap some gophers with some 107gr SMKs at 3000+ fps :D

If I cant get into my main field it will be Bluedot loads with 40gr BT's out of the 223 :)

How do you like the Blue Dot powder? I have 1000 50gr V-Max bullets sitting in the basement and normally use Benchmark powder, but do have 1 pound of Blue Dot sitting here.

love it, little louder than 22...more carnage.

I started at 10gr, im thinking I will stay with 12gr...havent tested any in hot weather yet, unsure if it will be affected or not.

Check seafires posts on accuratereloader.com for more then enough info on the Bluedot loads...

Yeah I was out yesterday and today. Tried a new field out yesterday. Not too much action, but heard em everywhere. Perforated a few with the xcr.

Today went out to another fields with the 22lrs, killed a lot of em, got my pasty ass sun burned too.

LOL...everyone at work was asking me where I went for the weekend...who gets a sunburn easter weekend in Alberta?

I guess it is possible.

Action was good enough around here that the wife got sore shooting her 260 and stole the 22 from me. Had to call grandpa and get a spare 22 sent down. Currently "borrowing" a 77/22 stainless. Just got to get her scoped and we will be killing in no time.

Two last weekend. One had seven babies, the other had 5 babies inside them.
.223 50 gr VMax, bullet completely fragmented and it did not exit,
stayed inside for an instant kill.

a few pics ****Some GUTS*******

on the way out...

And a couple groups shot with the 243AI at 200yds...
(as you can see winds were 20-25km/h left to right)
also notice my typical "holy s**t this is going to be a good group!

i know this isnt really the same as im in NZ and we dont even have gophers.

but i was sighting in my .17HMR yesterday.. got it zero'd at 150m and then my buddy points out a big rat sitting on a tree stump by one of the drainage ditches.

well my first hunting experience with a .17hmr was a success . the rat is now in the drain missing most of its face

i wish so bad than we had a rampant gopher problem !! :D

You could always make a trip to Saskatchewan, gopher capital of the friggin world :D

I have been looking forward to getting back to Sask. for some great gopher action. So much so that me and my winger have both booked off the whole first week in May for the big adventure. And now to decide which guns to take, the (2) 204 Rugers, new Buckmark22 Varmint, CZ Full stock, the new Cooper in Mach2, Cz Hornet, Browning Lever. that should do it. FS
