Gophers

Good gopher patch locations aren't something usually just given out all willy nilly. I'm a little po'd I asked my buddy out who hardly ever shoots, and he brought another guy with him who only brought a 22-250 with about 20 bullets, and complained that we couldn't just drive around and shoot them out the window. It's right by a farm and every year I ask permission. I'm worried now he's going to head back out there and drive around shooting up the country side and ruining my permission. It's the last time I invite anyone without being absolutely sure who is coming.
Fair enough but there's a difference between a city person going and someone who sees it as an enjoyable chore, I always bring two bricks even when I don't think it needed. Old habits like that die hard for me, it always saved a trip walking back to the house lol
Might see my vehicle in a field on google earth, it's a blue jeep. Search within a 60 or so mile radius of Regina.
Perfect my yellow Rubicon would look right at home near it ;) If you see a yellow tj Rubicon with a light bar above the windshield, and aftermarket headlights and tail lights that's likely me driving around.
And some old dude sitting in a chair shooting at ground rats with aCZ scout in a evo stock.. :)

Sounds like my kind of warm day relaxing in the sun

Threw the Foxpro in the truck today and headed out...... To try my hand at calling crows. No crows but I did call in one raven. First time I tried it. Just like callin yotes, I suck. But great day to be in the country.

Good thing I threw my CZ Varmint 17 HMR in as well. 29 less gophers. Sorry no pics. But really they all look the same.

Well if you want to get rid of crows just put some tannerite up on top of bail with a bit of raw meat then back off and wait a bit once the feeding frenzy starts dial in your 22-250 (or whatever your need to set the tannerite off) and loose a round. To your delight you'll see nothing but black feathers rain down all over the place and about 1 foot of the bail missing once the smoke clears.

Went out to feed the Hawks again yesterday afternoon. Cloudy and windy but we managed a good 20-30. I can't believe the size of some of them this year. They're pretty huge. We had an open sights .22 day, probably would have had quite a few more but hard to get close.

Those 20-30 would have been 2-3 if I was shooting open sights.

Hahaha, ya, it was about 3 hrs and that's between 2 of us, so 10-15 each. There were a couple times 2 10 shot clips (10 shots for each of us) were unloaded from the 10/22's rapidly at a running gopher only to see the tail flick down the hole. great fun though.

Did the deed today.
Funny, as the day wore on, I dint have to pull up me pantelones ne'er so awftin.
What a hoot.

Had a little time to burn so headed out into the field and dropped another 12-13 in about an hour and a half. Not sure I lost count. A lot more out there but it was windy and they seem skittish when the wind gets up. Plus I'm just using a cheap modern bolt with iron sights. I could have stayed out there all day but....they'll be there tomorrow.

Just went out for a quick drive today. Put a few down the tube of the 452, got my first 7 of the year! Going to have to make a full day out of it pretty quick here.

Took the RAR out again to a field north of the farm and dropped another 10-12. Planning on going out again in the morning with one of the neighbors. Also I was helping a buddy vaccinate calves on Sunday and he asked if I would take a drive to a pasture 1/2 mile east of his house and clean some out over there as well.

There are a few farmers that will not let anyone else on their property unless i accompany them... makes me think of a side business.... GOPHER SAFARI!!!!
