Great day in the pasture, 112 down. 452 Lux and Win 333 don't disappoint.

Great weather for them today, all I could think of at work was how many gophers must be running around right now in this sunny calm weather......... stupid work.

Wind behaved today, just the occasional little breeze, was welcome actually.

shot another 200 today. I was planning on making a pot of gopher stew, but when dressing out the critters, I found spotted livers (tularemia) and most were infested with mites!!!

Not gonna be making any at this rate..

Well not 200 here but 41 less in my farmer friends fields here in Manitoba. Succumbed to 17 WSM and 17 HMR. 'Twas a thing of beauty!

Got permission to go onto some land by my friends farm yard and took out about 20 of the grass ruining vermin yesterday for him.

Work/Family commitments have been keeping me off the range and away from the gopher patch. Hopefully, things should loosen up, schedule wise.

Had a spectacular day with a good friend and his son where we shot non stop for several hours. Went through 650+/- rounds and didn't miss TOO often. Likely took 200 or more gophers.

Stretched out to some 150 yard shots but most were 15-50

I nailed a big bugger that must have been 2 lbs. Biggest one I've ever seen.

This shot is typical of the day I was having yesterday. I'd pop one, then one would run over and check on the one I popped... bang-THWAP, two down, then another comes over to look and bang-THWAP.

Love my CZ-452 Lux. It's one of only 2 rifles I own that shoot the CCI SHP Quick Shots (1640 FPS) accurately. Hits the gophers like the Hammer of Thor.

So far to date. Ammo expended on gophers. 2 bricks of 22, 200 rounds of 17HMR and 50 rounds .223. Having fun. All that in one quarter section. Can't begin to count how many have been cleaned up.

Two of us shot about 275 today. We stopped counting after 250. Been using Winchester 40gr Hyper Velocity 1435fps .22 LR. Really knocks them down fast. Also shot my 1022 with Winchester Power Points a very accurate load in this particular 1022. On one shot heard a very loud bang with flames shooting out the receiver and then a jam. Never had this happen before but the primer end of the empty case blew right off and lucky I was wearing eye protection. Almost like a double charge if such a thing is possible with .22LR. Now the firing pin is not setting off the rimfire primer. Haven't taken it apart yet. Tomorrow.

Got these little rascals about 2 weeks ago I will go out again this week sometime. I'm starting a new job soon and everyone has been out seeding or moving cows out to pasture for the past few weeks so its a little too busy to be out shooting at the moment.

All taken with RAR .22LR and iron sights.

Glad you're Ok. Never seen that happen either.

You think the 10/22 will be Ok? Or did the receiver take damage?

I have been trying to get myself and wife out for gophers for the past five years. Kijiji ads and knocking on doors has gotten us nowhere. Pretty jealous of you lucky guys!
