Gophers!

This has been the worst year in many for me, my go to landowners either poisoned, or sold their pasture to a colony that broke and seeded it. The only new fields that I found were too small, or in locations where longer range shooting with the small centerfire is not practical. I need to get out and do more scouting .

I have not shot much gophers this year. Due to a carrier change and a pregnant wife.
But this year has hands down been my highest hit rate.
Cz 527 in 204ruger. Has yet to miss in 50 rounds. Longest shot was 228yrd.

Then the cz452 in 22lr is probably in the 80-90% hit rate.

Cz’s and leupold scopes make a wicked combo.

You got that right!

What Leupold do you like for the job?

Me and my hunting parter got another 247 one day this past weekend. Me with my T1X and he was using his 455 Night Sky, we had very few misses.

I gotta figure out how to strap a rifle to my FJR and make a pit stop during my upcoming ride to BC...

68 more today but grass is getting too tall and heat pretty unbearable. Still beats a day at the office. I was home by 1 as it really slowed down.

I posted in the groundhog thread, but thought I'd put a couple pics of our prairie dog hunt here as well. Apparently, dogs don't like being shot at and are quite shy compared to our gophers. 300-400 yards was our average shooting range. We popped the odd one inside of 200 yards. Couple that with a 10-15mph wind and it made for a really challenging hunt. We hunted several spots on state and federal lands, but were given access to 3200 acres of private land after talking with a few of the locals.

My son peaked 409 yards with the AR. (Yes, that's a 30 round mag)

Put it to some good use.

My 415 yard dog. My daughter had one at over 450 but thought it too troublesome to walk that far "just for a picture".
