With gophers out in a few months, what is your fav rifle? Over the last few years I’ve picked out my main rifle to be a CZ 452 lux. Sold are my Rem 541 S&T, a Valquartsen 10/22, a few Brno’s,10/22s etc. 22 hornets also comes along. Mini mags, Yellowjacket, make up most of my gopher ammo. Looking forward.

Tikka T1x MTR, 20" barrel in 22LR. A great rifle in it's own right, but a good amount of it's charm is it's love of CCI Velocitor. Even in pretty high wind, I can hear the pop sound of the hits out past 50-75 yards. lol

Love to see the thread btw, I've had gophers on the mind every day. lol

I also have a 452 Lux and it is my first and favourite gun, used it for grouse hunting this winter.

My favourite for gophers has been my CZ MTR with a big scope for NRL. Weight doesn't really matter when driving out to a field and it is fun popping the gophs at distance off a fence or tripod.

CZ 455 varmint 17 HMR, then CZ 457 22 LR, then CA ranger 22 LR, then my little browning BL22 as long as the wife dosn't come along as she has sort of adopted the BL22 I just like popping sod poodles :D

For rimfire if I’m making a day out of it shooting gophers, cz 455 in 17hmr and ruger 10/22. But I don’t have much time to spend the day shooting so most of the gophers I kill is when I’m out in the pastures and fields doing other work so I have a norinco jw15 short barrel that lives all spring through fall on the front rack of one of the atvs. Poor rifle gets treated like a rental mule but kills a lot of gophers per year. My browning T-bolt sits by the back door at the house and I kill a lot of gophers that a making holes in my yard with it.

On my property usually use a 12 gauge, one of my retired bird guns or skeet guns. Gopher hunts are within 50 yards, close and personal haha. If I’m out on the mower one of my revolvers is riding in my holster usually a SAA chambered in .45, the vibrations from the mower especially early in the year brings them curiosity which is opportune for drive by’s Ha.

About 71/2’-8’ was the record launch if memory serves!! Haha it was epic and the precision disectioning by MrBill with his 17HMR was very memorable. The accommodations await our return at the Fischer ranch. My favourite is still my Vudoo with Zeiss LRP in the Mdt XRS. Would like to see what a hollow point slug at 975 fps out of a PCP Airgun performs on the little dirt squirrels. I think there may be some 17M2s show themselves this year.IMG_2062.jpeg

These two; a Brno 2E in .22LR with a Leupold 6X AO and a CZ 452 Varmint in .17 with a Leupold 10X

I have over 30,000 rounds out of the Brno on gophers. Good times. Thought I mistakenly hit a horse once with a ricochet but he was just sleeping. Scared the crap out of me.
