Next I phone back to the distribution center with the news and Visa card and PAL in my sweaty little hand. First they have nothing like that, and I tell them they do have one and that the saleman had held it in his hand as recently as a minute ago. I give the article number and she tells me they don't have any but have 60 on order. Yes, but I don't want 60 you see, just the one in Winnipeg. Could you send me that one and we will part as adversaries and not enemies? No, it doesn't work like that. Winnipeg can't ship it, and distributing can't ship it because its in Winnipeg, and Winnipeg can't ship it to distributing, and neither can ship it to the Saskatoon store because they don't do that either. I do ask if this was Cabellas, the same Cabellas that for decades has been shipping things, had a catalogue and website to order things? Yep, same place. Beginning to feel like I'm caught in some comedy skit, I thought that I'd take the bait and ask what she suggested I do. Believe it or not, she claims that there is no way that I can get that particular rifle short of driveing to Winnipeg and physically walking into that store. Or I can order one that they don't have, and wait for it not to come, for a time period that can't be predicted. Apparently that makes sense in her world.
Right now I'm torn between considering it a challenge and not wanting to own a rifle that that many stupid people have stood beside.
Anyone have any ideas?
