Got a 336 coming.........sights/optics, to many to choose from!

I have my first Marlin en-route right now and I have been researching what style of sights/mounts I want. There are enough choices out there that my head is starting to hurt!

This is what I like so far:

Williams - WGRS-336 Fire Sights

Williams - FP-336 Fire Sights

Skinner Express sight

XS Lever Rail Sight System

And the the option of a Williams or Skinner with XS Scout Mount for an optic if I wanted one.

Or I could just go with a regular base with scope and leave the factory sights in place.



What are you guys running for sights on your Marlins?

Wild West Ghost ring rear, Williams Firesite up front. An XS Scout mount with a Leupold IER 2.5x scope in low Burris QD rings.

How do you find the balance with the scout mount and scope up front?

Swings nicely, not too front heavy but it makes the carbine harder to hand carry. If I don't need the scope it comes off quickly with the QDs.

With those rings will it hold zero after you take them off?

POA shifts a bit but it's still OK fro deer at 100 yards.

I have red paint to assist in re-mounting the QD rings in the same location on the rail.

The Lyman 66 receiver sight is the way to go on a Marlin. Simple/easy/accurate/reliable/old school.

While I don't have a Marlin, I do use that same sight on a 760.

Iv had great luck with both the skinner and xs peeps

Skinner is great. Can't really comment on a scope as I don't really expect to mount one.

I like the Williams FP with a FireSight up front.

Scoping is a good option too; I have an old Weaver K2.5 on my Marlin presently.
