Got a black combat shotgun (590A1)

I put the Magpul stock and forend on my 590A1, along with a Limbsaver recoil pad, and couldn't be happier.

Now one of my favourite firearms and keeper for sure.
 
I love my 590. I bought a hatson semi auto for 3 gun....what a joke. Replaced it with this and couldn't be happier. It cycles very easy. I love the "door breach choke option" . Man can I get a lot of distance just using 7 shot.! I'm knocking metal targets over at 40 yards. It gives me great 100yard shots with slugs,..I love it. The original rear stock was Way to long for me, so I threw this adjustable Tapco stock on.It works fine. 8+1 rounds is great for 3 gun.

Yes, I like it. It now has vintage refinished wood. Think I posted a pic a few pages back... Ghost ring sights work extremely well, very impressed with the shotgun. I won't be throwing my 500's away anytime soon however, like them too.
 
I love my 18.5" A1, and will never be without one in my safe. I would really like to pick up a 14" model at some point too. I couldnt get on target at 100yards with some 2 5/8" slugs last range trip, but I have never shot it out past 25 yards so I need to check my zero I am guessing....or practice haha. Would there be any significant drop at 100 yards with a 1 oz slug?(Sellier&Bellot Sport Slug)

a high velocity 1oz slug (1560 fps), assuming zero at 50 yards, should drop roughly 4" to 5" at 100 yards. A box of Remington slugs says 1.4" at 75 yards, and 4.8" of drop at 100 yards.

I took out a different shotgun last time and was having lots of trouble hitting my 10" gong from about 80-90 yrds. This was with the S&B Sport slugs too. The other day a friend mentioned the somewhat significant drop slugs have. Next time I'll try the 590A1 though.

They are not threaded for chokes, so that can be a deal breaker for hunters. The 590 is heavier than most other pumps too.

The barrel interchangeability of the 590 is not like that of the 500. If you want a hunting gun it'd be easier to purchase an inexpensive one and keep your 590.
