I got a buck yesterday at around 2:30pm. He came out on a field and was doing his thing in a scrape he had there. I figured he was around 250m or so and I shot him with my 300 wby. The 180gr tsx hit him in the spine and he went down. Bullet went in and exite. Flopped around a bit and that was it. The range was 235m. I checked it with my gps after. I also took my wife along who shot her very first deer on friday at around 4:30pm. She shot a nice fat doe that came up a river bank around 110m away. All that time at the range paid off cause she shot her just once and the doe dropped like a bag of potatoes. She hit the doe a little high and broke the top of the ribs, bottom of the spine and more ribs on the way out. She was shooting a 7mm RM with 120gr Btips going 3450fps. My father in law who hasn't been hunting in 10 years or so also came along. We visited my inlaws and he took friday off and went hunting with us friday and saturday. He shot a nice doe for the freezer 20 mins before my wife shot her doe. We heard the shots. Nice to go out and hunt as a family.

Here is a picture of my buck.

Congrats!! Thats cool that you can include your family(wife) in the hunting season, not everyone has that luck.I see too, that you both don't waste your time on choice of caliber...very good for both of you!!

A handsome deer - congrats.

Seeing the pics of guys still hunting makes me realize I do not "have it out of my system". Oh well, just 340 more sleeps until next season.

Awesome. It's nice to see the family go out together. I hear stories all the time from guys at work who have to fight with their wives to get out once or twice. Congrats on a great hunt!
