Got an itch for a 350 Rem Mag.

The guide gun is ugly, but I think the worst part about it is the rib, and it's removable. A buddy has one w/o the rib, and it's a nicly proportioned rifle. Nice open grip, points well, and really handles recoil nicely. I was prepared to hate it, but a day of carrying it changed my mind.

Wholesale Sports lists the stainless/synthetic 700 BDL in 300SAUM for $679....this is what my 350 Rem Mag is built on, I put an older but new B&C Medalist stock on it...great rifle.

$679 plus GST is $720...barrel installed is about $450, there you have a stainless 350 Mag for $1170...restock it later.

I too have been itching for a 35 cal thump-whacker. I was thinking 350RM, but I think the Whelen is seducing me a little more.

I'd like to get my hands on a 7CDL in 350 RM though... I'll bet it would be a sweet rifle.

I bought one of these Ruger rifles in 350 Rem Mag. I have not had time to shoot it yet, but the action is incredibly rough. I worked the bolt several times, without ammo in the gun. It had a tendency to bind up. After several repititions, the bolt will now open and close without binding, but it still feels very rough.

I heard from one other person on CGN that the Ruger will not feed the 350 reliably. I have a feeling he is correct.

Yes, I'm familiar with the link... perhaps the tool at WSS was mistaken.. I tried to order one not too long ago and was told 'Discontinued'.

i got a chance to shoot one of the old 350's (model 600, hard wood stock, no sights and about a 18" bbl, i think) and thought it was really cool

Actually, I just noted that Epps has a couple of the Rugers listed as reduced; perhaps the distributor isn't bringing them in anymore?

The 358 Norma gets my vote.

If you are recoil sensitive you aren't goint to like the potent little 35's anyway. So (in my pea brain) the 358 Norma makes a sensible chamber.

If you can shoot a barky little 600 in 350 Rmag then you can shoot a well built 358 Norma just as easy.

Nothing wrong with the 350 RM but most actions don't fit it too well while any burnt out short magnum action (300 win length) is a good candidate for the Norma.

Of course the same can be said for the 36-06 length non magnums and the 35 Whelan.
