Thanks to everyone on this forum for all the helpful information, this part of the forum has been very helpful in answering my questions... Youtube has been good as well.

I have made my decision on a reloading press and have purchased a single stage press; went for the Lee 50th Anniversary Kit. I know it's a cheapo kit, but it will get me started, and it was only $125 so the price was great for me to get into reloading 30-06 and .223. I didn't want to go with a turret press or progressive for rifle loading as 1) I'm a newb so I don't want to have an accident trying to do multiple things at once, and 2) I can always use a single stage down the line if I go with a progressive press, and for the price might as well!

Anyway, the only problem I have come into so far is finding powder and .223 unfired brass. I bought some 3031 just to get started but it seems like lots of folks are happy with Varget. If someone knows a CGN sponsor that will ship powder for a reasonable cost please fire me a PM, or if you are a sponsor please feel free to do so as well if you read these forums. Also looking for unfired .223 brass if someone knows a source that would be great.

For once fired brass, see the Equipment Exchange on this forum (EE). You might have to apply if you don't already have it access. I'm new, but I've already bought several thousands of once-fired brass on EE from various CGNers and had good experiences.

You can also get it from Budget Shooter Supply and various other sources. See the banner at the top of the site. Henry is a great guy to deal with.

I've ordered powder and primers that I can't find locally from Rusty Wood and Budget Shooter Supply, both were great to deal with.

Thanks guys, I will try these out. And dead meat, does Doug have a business or contact info?

Most guys keep their fired factory brass. You don't really need BNIB brass.
Shipping costs are not set by the retailer. They're set by the carrier. Powder is considered to be hazardous material and not every carrier will carry it. Buy components locally.

No offence to our site sponsors, but my components are bought locally to reduce shipping costs and when I buy powder, it is in bulk 21lb lots to further reduce shipping and the only company that carries my preferred powders in that kind of bulk is Higginson's. They have NEVER let me down in 30yrs.

Nothing wrong with buying local in my opinion, though I try not to buy much from cabellas. Thanks again for the advice!

3031 is a good powder to get going no with the 30-06, at least, especially for 150 grain bullets.
I don't load 223, but it should also be pretty good for that, also.
Varget is an often over rated powder. It is a bit slower than 30-31, but not a great deal.
Just look up loads on Hodgdon's on line for 3031 and load away.

Thanks H4831 for the advice, I'll give it a shot this weekend, it looks like you know what you are talking about... Love the reloading forum.
