So who says neat things dont show up at gun shows in Canada :)
I bought this today at the Courtenay Gun show.
was a great show to!

This little gun is like a Vellodog BUT its a Bigger Caliber than the 5.65

Now a 32 Long colt fits nice maby a tad loose but would fireform nice.

Any ideas on which Metric Caliber this gun is?

After looking in some books i have i found a 7.62 Nagant Revolver cartridge that looks like it might just be the right one.
Wonder if you can buy 7.62 Nagant cases anywhere?
Sorry for the Blurry pics.

Hi Dingus,
NICE little Velo dog you got there ! I used to have two of those, also in near new condition. on mines The caliber was 5.5mm called 5.5 Velo dog It is slighly (not much) bigger in size and lenght than a .22 Magnum cartridge, and it is center fire. but did not know the bigger caliber were also called velo dog

will look in my books to see if I can help.

Regards

Well i dont think this ones Called a Vellodog its more Like a vellodog.

I figgered it out it takes the 7.62 Nagant Cartridge
The Nagant cartridge has the bullet seated all the way in the case in my pictures in my books.
The pics show my type of Revolver with two calibers the 8 mil lebel and the 7.62 Nagant.
The Nagant dimensions are right to fit my gun.

Anyone here load and shoot the 7.62 Nagant ?

Maby im Wrong LOL Fiochhi Nagant ammo shoots at like 1000FPS with a 98 gr bullet,
i dont think this gun could handle that!
im asking a Belgian gun Expert!

I would suggest a black powder load and a round ball to keep the pressures down. I still have not got around to shooting my .22 velodog yet :>(

cheers mooncoon

I was gona load BP or Pyrodex but still need the right cases.

This gun is already alot easyer to feed than the 22 CF ones being as 32 long colts fit.
I can just pull the ones i got stuff em full of Pyro and giver :D

Heres a Better pic!
them other two are Crap and fuzzy!

Its for the wife ;) :D

I like it alot tho so she only gets it to fondle when im not.
This one is antique and has a CFC Letter
her new gun has no Post 1898 Proofmarks.
These guns are VERY hard to find without Post 1898 Proofmarks.
This gun has fine wood grips (i thought they were plastic till i took em off)
And has Henry type Rifleing.
Were only shooting BP in this gun or Pyro!

i would be acreful shooting it, i dould not put a nagant round into it , ther eis also more than one type of nagant round there is a short nagant round also, it may be chambered for this , but im suspect,, (the short round is fired in the russian toz target revolvers) maybe it is 32 acp? this was common in velodogs.
maybe in another .32 caliber round from webly or the bulldoy .32 round or another ...
these guns are not of the strongest materials.. ive lost a good chunk of thoum firing a .22 caliber one with moddern ammunition ..
it may have benn chambered for one of several obselete rounds from 19centuary europe
id meshure the chamber diameter and the bore diamese and such
remember these things were turned out by the ton and they were made by many makers ,so they can be quite inconsistant

Generally those who pay attention to detail are able to enjoy BP and Antiques. Those who are sloppy or who do not pay attention to what they are doing loose appendages.

I had a few conversations through email with a fellow that typed just like that...His situation was that he was from italy and had troubles typing in english. Maybe this is the case with ausjulius.

...although maybe its just being sloppy :p

Is that what happens when the injury is not sufficient to lose the appendage
:>) :>)

cheers Doug
