I know this isn't exactly hunting but I finnally got my Northern back from the taxi, it's not huge but I caught him in a small trout lake in 50 feet of water, luckily it was early in the season and there wasn't much ice so I put my work gloves on and let him bite my hand and managed to pull him through a 6" hole in the ice. He measures a tad over 41" from bottom lip to botom of tail and was about 22 lbs when I weighed him the next day.

I don't know how to post pics but here's a couple links.

if your ever up my neck of the woods let me know i'll take you to a spot where the pike and musky make that look like a baby bass

theres one pond i go to just for time killing and excitement its about 50' across by 100 yrds long and about 10-30 feet deep theres 2 pike in there that the owner of the pond has been taking good care of *no barbs catch and release only* and been feeding them by stocking afew dozen bass every year last time i pulled one out it measured just over 4ft long and was close to 50lbs

Wow

As much as I like catching pike, i'm disappointed that the Pike are thriving so good in the little lake that I fish because they are doing a number on the trout, last year we caught 3 that had chunks bitten off and 2 others got attacked while landing them, there where no pike at all in it until about 10 years ago when someone got frustrated with not catching anything and released a couple 1 pound pike in it.

where i go for catfish and sturgeon theres a healthy population of whitfish bass muskie and pike one trip my wife was fishing for bass and she hooked on to a nice 2lb bass pulled it in and when i pulled the fish up got snapped by a 30+" pike that was following it in took a nice chunk out of my hand at the pinky knuckle 4 stitches in the field and took the bass from the gills back scared the bejeezuz out of my wife LOL now i dont pull fish out of there with out my work gloves (bright orange heavy rubber gloves for handle extreme chemicals)

Signguy, if you Kayak the biggest pike I have ever seen are inbetween the rapids on the ottawa near beachburg. my whitewater boat was 6'2" and they were consistantly bigger then 1/2 it's length ;) some were downright massive, 5ft-ish. (possibly musky) I have dove that area exstensively, lots of Walleye and Sturgeon in there too :D Bon Chance!

Max, nice mount,Im sure it;s going to look great in your new place!

Becasue somehow quoting and editing to see the pics made more sense to me than clicking on the links.:D

Triton, I was Fishing 20 minutes of gravel road riding south of big Abitibi Lake, Near Matheson, On. Near Munroe and Perry Lake, Munroe Lake and the lake I was fishing used to be connected via a 200 yrd long creek and neither lake had pike until 10 years ago a cottager on Munroe decided he would like pike in there and threw a couple in, now there has been 2 25-27 lbs fish caught in Munroe and this one out of the other lake, my parents have a cottage on Munroe and the Splake and Brook trout fishing used to be great but now you need to pull them up to the hole fast or the pike get an easy meal

HAha I had insulated work gloves and the hole was only 6" so I know I wasn't going in, I was alone so i'm not sure how long I fought it but i was fed up and pulled him through, did a number on the work glove and the little single hook I was using fell right out as soon as he grabbed on to the glove.
