i'll have to head up there this summer and check it out dont do any kyaking or boating most fresh water fishing i do is from a carefull selected shore spot
not much of a pike/muskie fishermen i like the deep dwellers like sturgeon and cat fish more relaxing

I miss fishing the Gat was alwaya fun, caugh quite a few smaller gars durning my time in Ottawa. the Ottawa river west/north by beachburg is loaded with large catfish (very yummy). great way to waste an afternoon. you can literally catch dozens on an afternoon. if you stop in @ MEC Ottawa or the kayak store down by the St.Laurent Bridge (name escapes me) they can tell you the on-foot access points to the rapid section. most of the pools (river sections) between rapids are not accessable by powerboats and get fished very little. the area near "RiverRun whitewater adventures" is very good too, and there are a few access points. lots of deer and moose around there too. hit the shoreline at dusk with a yellow Mr.Twister for some nice walleye action (they're not big, but very nice for dinner).
