Well Ive been saving and looking for a while and today it showed up :) a 722 actioned 40x single shot with original sights, handstop and a weaver t36 with burris rings :) I still got to mount the scope and go try it. Hopefully this weekend. Here is a couple of quick pics of the rifle.

Nice find they seem harder & harder to find these days, looks like a dandy one.
let us know range results, you have to feed it good stuff

Since there was no damage a picture of the box would be appropriate on another thread. I sure hope you enjoy it. My best ARA target was 2300 using Eley Black Box EPS.

I will get a pic up of the shipping box in the next day or so. It was very well packaged. I met my mail lady in the driveway and she was glad as she said I had a very heavy item. She also commented on how well packed it was and said someone definitely didn't want any damage done to it.

Thanks again.

I had a real early 722 40X Bull barrel in a Vintage thumbhole stock with a Canjar trigger that I shot for a decade, a real great shooter. I decided to send it on to another who hopefully is having as much enjoyment it gave me!
Yours is a lot easier to shoot off hAND WITH THE LIGHTER WEIGHT BARREL, YOU WILL HAVE A BLAST WITH IT! i HAd EXCELLLENT SUCCESS WITH CCI ST VEL.!
Cheers Dale Z!

I've never heard of a 722 actioned 40-X . . . is that a 722 in a 40-X stock, or did it come from the factory like that? Nice rifle by the way.

Its factory . The older ones were called a 722 and newer ones were a 700. I dont believe there is much of a difference at all. Someone else might chime in on what the difference was. I do know that the 722 was straight bolt handle and the 700 was swept back and I think the safety is a little different but other than that they were essentially the same.

You've got it basically right. The 40X and later the 40XB rimfires are made from the 722 and 700 designed receivers respectively. The receivers are allocated prior to much of the centrefire required milling is done as it doesn't apply. There is other millwork that is specific to the rimfires such as locking lug raceways and barrel boltface juncture area and feeding ramp. The receivers are not converted 722 and 700s. They have become to be known as the 722 and 700 style - but more correctly should be called the 40X and 40XB.
The beauty of the design is that they can accept all of the aftermarket add-ons and accessories that fit the centrefire models, and share the same footprint as the short action 700.
The design is so successful that many custom action makers have taken the basic design and incorporated modifications to refine and improve but there are still many 40X & 40XB based rifles on competition lines.

You have a beautiful rifle. When you get the ammunition sorted out you will be awed by the accuracy of the rifle. Cheers d.
