Got My Alaskan Scout: Doesn't Look Right

Wow, not too thrilled to see this thread. Mine was just delivered and I will have to wait until I get home from work to look at it.... going to be a long afternoon.

wanstalls, A+ good to see.
side note, since were talking about turd chiappas, mine wont fully eject my cases out once shot... anyone know where to
get a replacement extractor or is it a possible easy fix? thanks.

I had a new Chiappa 92 Mares leg and the finish on the follower was badly chipped with flakes all through the action. Retailer (Al's in TO) told me they were all like that. Disclosed and sold on the EE with no regrets.

This one looks like it got function-tested in Alaska.....! but good on Wanstalls. Consistent with the top-notch service I've gotten from them.

Hey all,

Figured I'd chime in here as I just took delivery of mine.

I am thankful to report that mine did not unbox with any notable visual concerns. So far I am quite pleased with the "look" of the unit.

I will say that due to the "flat" or "rough/textured" finish to the metal, you can expect mark up relatively easily. I'll be hitting the range today with it and will report back with my feedback.

Cheers!

+1

I'm happy to say that mine also looks good. Can't wait to get out and shoot it :)

I wasn't too worried if it turned out bad as I know Wanstalls would have taken care of the situation. It would have been a PIA/disappointing to have to send it back. Wanstalls reputation is the only reason I ordered it sight unseen.

I am not surprised by Wantsalls making it right.

My why-the-heck head-scratching goes for the OP starting this thread BEFORE contacting Wantsalls. He obviously knew the finish and overall condition of his firearm wasn't right, so why open up a thread?

This was the first rifle Ive bought or seen in person that had a hard-chromed surface. I has no idea if the condition was to be expected. It didn't seem right but I didn't know for sure.
The other reason is if in fact the rifle was defective then public shaming is exactly what Chiappa deserves.

I would have done the same thing, op did nothing wrong, his pics told the story.

Not surprised, i've herd from two of my local dealers to stay away from chiappa. Only they warned me that the operation of there firearms was poor. I guess they suck in both areas.

I hope you are wrong.

Also....if there was only 20 and they were ALL sold out...how is there a spare to give to this guy and one hanging on the wall. Insert dog with shifty eyes.

I thought it was standard practice to keep 1 or 2 units, so that a company can actually warranty / repair any that come back?

RANGE REPORT:

No FTF or FTE

Was damn accurate at 50 meters.

Has good weight/feel/balance to, not too heavy though. Take down is easy enough.

The finish is most certainly not a handlers finish. Meaning, unless you wear kit gloves with this thing, EXPECT the finish to not be so visually appealing.

I really enjoyed firing this baby today. Was lass kick than my Rossi 92 in 44.

Sure wish there was an alternate finish option. If it wasn't for the take down feature, I'd likely be sending her back though, this finish is definitely not durable. Granted the visual appeal of a fully functional and accurate rifle should not go hand in hand, but for resale value, the finish will take away from the value a lot. Just my $.02

i though the finish was support to be durable i hope it is … "these exclusive rifles have a matte hard chrome finish to resist the elements"
