Got my APEX Comp-AEK Today

I did and yes it makes a huge difference. Trigger pull is now a crisp 2.75lb pull with little over travel with a shorter reset.

This sounds exactly like the used Pro I just purchased. How can I tell if this upgrade has already been installed?

Check the FPB. If it is really domed shaped as opposed to just rounded it likely has been changed. The PRO trigger is still somewhat gritty and should be around 4.75 to 5#'s. If your dry fire pull is very smooth through the take up then I would think the FPB has been changed at least. If you have a 2.75# trigger and it is smooth then the Apex Competition Kit isn't going to get you any better of a trigger. You are there.

Installed my DCAEK last night (except for the Ultimate Striker Block, need to get a sight pusher). It went smoothly, especially since it was my first attempt at anything beyond a field strip of my handguns.

What is the FPB? Gray-Green sear as opposed to what?

Thanks,

M

Firing Pin Block....but I think he means USB(Ultimate Striker Block)? That's the part that's more rounded on mine...(prepares to be wrong...)

Grey-green as opposed to,...silver grey? I think it was...I'll go look in the parts bin...yep. My stock one was silver grey.

Loosen the set screw and drive the sight out left to right with a brass punch. You really don't need a sight pusher for the rear sight. The USB spring has a small disk sitting on top of it you don't want to lose. It took me a few tries when installing it to get the thing to stay on top of the spring. You have to use the tool Apex supplies and hold your tongue in the right place.

Thanks Bob, I also lack a vise, and live in a small apartment. I have a pusher on the way (eBay) for the same price as a vise. I tried on the carpet pinned under my knee...no such luck

Plus, I kind of wanted a pusher for the range bag.

I drilled a hole in a piece of lumber to allow the sight to drop down into it, then used a brass punch. Worked like a charm!

What did your trigger pull weight end up after the DCEK was installed?

Hmmmm, so if I drop $200 worth of APEX upgrades into my M&P Pro to accomplish "mimics the 1911 style trigger", why not just use my 1911 in the first place:rolleyes:

Maybe someone may not have a 1911 and wants the short reset and lack of pre-travel offered by the Apex trigger in his/hers M&P. If you don't want/need these features then don't buy it. Nice to have choices.

Choices are a good thing. Wouldn't mind loosing some pe-travel on mine.
