Bought my licence the last few years and haven't had much opportunity because of work. That changed today. Blowy winds meant no lobster fishing = trip to the woods with another one of my employers. Saw four, shot this one around 11 O'clock. The Powermax Bonded .30-30 hollowpoint put an end to her fast. Interested to see how much mess it made when I open her up.

Congrats, nice lookin' bear.

Thanks. She had a nice head on her, but small body. Maybe 4 yrs old. I didn't want a big one, just wanted one to turn into sausages. That's the only way I'll eat it I would guess.

Savage 340? Nice to see one in action.

Yeah, it's actually a CIL 830, same thing. I like it. Minimal recoil due to weight/stock design/lace-on cheek pad.

Good hunting..... And you are missing out if you don't have a bear roast..... A bit of garlic, onions and a splash of red wine and 8 hours in the crock pot will make a roast to die for.....

Congrats on your first bear...........I still remember my first vividly some 42 years, and likely as many bears, later. Get the photo up in the sticky for all to see and your chance for bragging rights as "The internet black bear King".

Awww man, now the price of those fine guns is going to head way North and you Lobstermen will have to work harder to be able to afford another .
Thanks for sharing.
Whats the retail price for Lobster looking like for us non fishers of the crustaceans ?

Ha, well the lobster price is terrible for us, so maybe looking good for you?

And Savage 340s are getting so much hate in my post over in the Hunting arms forum that I think you're safe from inflation...
