Got My Beretta Today!

The transfer took less than two weeks, that was ok I guess. I drove down to Hamilton and picked it up. Man, these pistols look 100% better in person. What sort of cleaning should I do to it, being a brand new pistol? Is it ok to leave it like it is until I bring it to the range for the first time, then clean and lubricate it? I've already field stripped it, I don't know why the plastic guide rod suprised me. This would be useless without pictures, so they are below. :)

Tim, the employees at the shop said I caused quite a ruckas when I bought the pistol, I got the whole story from them about how you were going to come in to buy it the same day I called. It is a nice pistol.

Berettas like to be run wet. So put some oil on the slide rail where it touches the frame, as well as where the muzzle end of the barrel where it touches the slide.

I'd also get some double-stack mags as the single-stack one you got there can be a biatch to load.

Single stack my a*s....Beretta only manufactures double stack mags, you couldn't get a single stack ever if you tried....what do you think this is?..a 1911.

The Beretta 92FS-C Type M is a single stack compact version of the model 92. The "M" stands for the Italian word "monofilare" (i.e. single line). They were manufactured by Beretta until being discontinued in 2004. There are quite a few in country. I had one in stainless for a while, and I know that up to a few weeks ago P&D Enterprises had some new ones for sale (they have since been sold.)

So, I guess your a*s is wrong.
 
That doesn't look like a 92FS-C Type M in the photo. :confused: ..at least not the same as the one shown in the Beretta catalogue....The Type M had an 8-round single stack mag. I had a 92 Compact model and it had a double-stack 10rnd magazine. The barrel was flush with the front of the slide and the mags had "pinky-rest" baseplates. I sold it because it's accuracy was poor.

Even Slavex can tell you the mags shown by the original poster are factory beretta single stack mags that came with the gun, notice the indentation on both sides running the length of the mag. This is something Beretta have recently started doing. I have the exact same mags that came with my Elite IA.

It's public information that's been discussed in Beretta Forum. Try and do a search there.

Want to bet your ass on this one? :D

Ok....Help me out here....So if I understand this thread correctly...the Compact model can accept both single and double stack mags? :confused:
Will the single-stack mag from the pictured model fit in the 92 Compact double-stack model? And vice-versa?
 
ok the neutered mags that come with Beretta's in Canada have been made into 10 rounders by adding that long crimp in them, on both sides. Effectively making them single stack 10 round mags. Those are the ones made for the USA market. The ones you want are the ones made prior to the AWB (and maybe are still made) that simply have two cuts about 3/4 of the way down the mag, and then the metal folded in a bit on each corner where the cut is. Those are still double stack mags, but the follower can only go down far enough for 10 rounds. Since the ATF determined that those little folds could be either folded back, or cut out, they weren't legal in the USA during the AWB.

Now the finish is also different, on the single stack style it's a rougher coarser finish, on the double stack it's simply blued. I think the other ones might be that Bruniton or whatever they call their black finish on their guns.
I prefer the double stack style as I find them more reliable, and easier to load.
