Unfortunately it was with my truck and some help with the marlin. I hunted the first week. No success. One doe in the camp. I was supposed to hunt both weeks. But had to return. My daughter was very ill. Just turned down the highway from my camp. Saw a buck come out. I slowed down. He was in the ditch stopped. I continued on. He fired up and ran right into the side of my truck. I got pulled over and he was back on the side of the highway he came out of. He was still flopping around. I turned around to the other side of the highway, where he was. Stopped the truck. Looked at him. He was still alive, so I went into the truck and got my rifle. As I walked around to him. The poor bugger sat up. I walked in behind him, where he couldn't see and put the poor bugger out of his misery. Then the cops showed up. Lazy bastard didn't even get out of his car. I didn't bother to mention I had shot him. Figured it may be to much hassle. Then I gutted him and took him into the butcher. He was an 8 pointer and a solid 230lbs maybe more. He took out my driverside mirror, rear door, rear quarter panel and lens. Truck is about 6 weeks old. Oh well. I felt sorry for the bugger. I found out after it was over the hounds were on him. They came out to the highway. He didn't know what to do. So I guess he ran. Gonna head up to fogducker and dumbdawgs tommorow afternoon. Hunt fri anyway.:50cal: Hope you guys got some with the rifles anyway. Much cheaper. LOL!

Dave.

Mmm...fresh road kill, the favorite with rednecks everywhere ;) A co-worker of ours nailed a moose calf one December. It was reported to the CO's, a permit was obtained and the sausages were awesome :D Did I mention it was a company truck ;)

Anyone can sneak up to a deer on foot. Takes talent to sneak right up to one with a truck........wink

Glad you are ok. As for the truck, they build those things every day. There is only one you.

Bummer about the new truck. Old cars (or trucks) never get bashed up. :(

.

No matter how hard you try!

Christ, I've been taking the FGD (free GMC diesel) -- the duck truck from my pics -- through the worst shiat you could imagine. Not even a dent.

Now the family 2005 Tundra has been smashed up TWICE ------------ WHILE PARKED IN FRONT OF MY F__ING HOUSE!!:runaway:

one ran into me last year durring the summer. took out a front headlight pot, front quarter pannel, huge dent in my drivers door and a small one in the back drivers door. cost me about 200 bucks for all of it, and it was a god forsaken fawn. id have accepted it if i had gotton some meat out of it.
