I finally got my Stag Arms Model 2R in the mail this morning.

A big thanks out to Walter from Arms East. I couldn't have asked for a better guy to deal with and the sale went very smoothly.
One thing that got me when I opened the case for it was this big-ass flash supressor/muzzle brake.

I've never seen one of these before. It looks like a scaled down muzzle brake from a 155mm howitzer! Are they good for weapon control? And if I want to swap it out for a regular bird cage later on would that be possible?
I'm gonna be playing with it a bit after work today, customizing it to what I want. I'm gonna add all my favourite accessories to it. I'll post pics of it later when it's all decked out.

mine came with that brake too. and it is like shooting a howitzer! loud and a the wave it sends out sideways almost took my hat off at 10 feet. it sure does keep the rifle on target tho.

Wow! That's some blast. I wonder what would happen to anyone standing closer than 10 feet? Would it give them powder burns and take skin off of them?!

I had my lefty Stag out to the range for the first time yesterday, and that muzzle break made for a fair bit of control. The downside is the blast that goes out to the side of the barrel is CRAZY!!!!
I was sighting in, had stuff on either side of my muzzle in the firing point bay. BAM!! everything was flying everywhere!

But it sure works real nice...

:50cal:

Congrats on the new Stag, I KNOW you'll like it...

I see Walt has been really busy these days!! LOL

My Stag wore one of those too, for about 2 hours until I pulled it off. I also removed the handguards, complete stock, pistol grip, buis and side sling adapter. I then added my pile of parts to it.
Lots of quick changes. I also took a grinder to the front sight base too so my 12 inch free float rail would fit. All this before I put a round through it.:D
In fact all that is left from my original rifle is the lower parts kit and lower itself. Everything else has been swapped out.:runaway:
YMMV,
Hoddie

A large ball of wind? I think I know how I'm gonna blow out the candles on my birthday cake next year!:D

Sounds like you had fun. I don't plan on performing any surgery on mine though. All the changes will be cosmetic.

That's a nice carbine but that muzzle break belongs on a howitzer. Do all Stag carbines ship with it? The BUIS looks like either a GG&G or MI, they're identical.

I also got a stag this summer, and due to a combination of muzzle brake/brand new gun, the first shot I fired was like a black powder rifle, big cloud of smoke, I couldn't see for half a second, after that, all good. Prett cool though. Enjoy your toy!!!

Oh, I heard a rumor stag makes ar's for S&W, any truth to that or is it another damned lie?
