Just recieved my dayton trigger for my Brno.

One question regarding the vee it requires in the tail of the bolt.
Is this just for clearance for the sear to come back up instead of leaving the spring loaded up during storage?
The install sheet says it needs to be ground out to look like a military style contour.
Was just curious why?

I have a D-T trigger on a FN Mauser and a 1908 Brazilian Mauser. Both have the notched cocking piece.

As an experiment, I swapped one of the D-T triggers onto another FN mauser action that has the un-notched cocking piece. The trigger functioned properly.

I'd recommend you install the trigger to your Brno and see how it works. Maybe a call to Dayton?
 
Well I got the trigger done just now.
I don't know what I was thinking because the Brno 21H has the vee in the cocking piece. Perhaps I was thinking of a Browning High Power.

For any others out there thinking of doing this job while it doesn't just "drop in" it isn't too tough either.
I had to stretch the hole in the reciever where the sear pokes through, so it would be able to recock and have a bit of clearance.

There is some wood that needs to be removed to clear the trigger housing too. Keep in mind to make the new groove deep enough to clear the housing. When the bolt handled is opened, the cocking piece actually pushes the trigger housing downward hence the spring loaded hinge action.
This one came down approx 3/32" so I went 1/8" to be safe.

Most of you likely know this stuff already but I am excited to say I learned something new tonight and just want to pass on the info if it will help a newbie.

My trigger pull has gone from a very draggy four to five pound pull to a crisp 3lbs even. I am a happy man, and all this for under a brown dollar.

You might save some hassle by ordering one with Bob at HVH in Winnipeg.

I've been getting my triggers from Brownells with no problems because their value is less than US$100.00. Unfortuately, the orders are very slow in arriving. My last order took a month including the 3 weeks it sat in Canada Customs.
