Got My deer today

I was out for an early morning hunt, I had just pulled off the logging road into the field I sit in and was unloading the truck for my days hunt when this guy came out of the bush about 80 or so yards from me and stared at me. I took the shot and he dropped then out came another bigger buck. Once he realized what was going on he ran back into the cover. While I was cleaning mine up the other buck keep walking around just outside of my view and was grunting and whistling at me for the first 10-15 minutes after I started cleaning. I have never had that happen before, and I have harvested plenty of deer. Has anyone else had this happen?

That is a very nice looking rack!!

I have had deer whistle and blow nonstop sometimes while I am in their area, or gutting another deer. Not one that has done that ever showed themselves though. But I am betting they were keeping an eye on me. I have also had deer charge and stomp at me, that's annoying when you don't want to shoot it lol.
 
Congrats on your venison.

I put a couple dry does in the freezer during archery season... Monday is rifle opener.
 
We had a similar occurrence once in Ontario, but it was a doe on the ground and a buck in the brush making the noise. Even stranger to hear it happening in your case with a buck on the ground. I almost suggested you check to see if maybe you had shot an antlered doe, but one look at that body and neck and decided not to...:)

Before anybody laughs, there is a pic circulating around of an antlered doe shot somewhere in the states, wearing a big, beautiful symmetrical rack like the one on this buck. It happens.
 
Very nice animal.

I onc had a fallow buck attach and fully gore a buck I had shot earlier and had gone back to get the truck to collct. Almost drove into him, dogs were all looking at him and he carried n goring it, so I got the rifle put, reloaded, and took him too. I would say your nuck was pumped with testosterone and spoiling for a fight.

Which is why tags are antlered or antlerless, because antlers to not indicate ### 100% of the time.
