Well, after a week of seeing nothing but does, on the last day of my season (unfortunately had to go back to work) got my first ever deer. Just started hunting last year with my father in-law and can say I'm a changed man.

Had been sitting for the morning and after not seeing anything for a few hours decide to head back for lunch. Start walking, turn a corner in the bush and there's this guy just standing in the middle of a field. Ranged him at 311 yards. Drop the trigger stick in the ground take aim and fire. Nailed him - a little low but still a double lung shot. He ran maybe 60-70 yards and dropped.

he's certainly not the biggest buck out there......but figure this gives me plenty of room to improve. Can't wait to get out again next year (and for yotes this winter).

Good show TJ...You will remember that whole experience for the rest of your life. Now how you deal with the addiction will also directly affect the rest of your life. The more you hunt the life you enjoy. Congrats Tj......Nice buck.

Good deal, I'm guessing you live out West? Here in Ontario 100yds is a long shot on deer.

Maybe in Northern/Western Ontario. Its pretty flat over here in the East, and there are lots of large fields that have been cleared for agricultural purposes. No doubt the average shot is well under 100 yards, but the possibility of 300+ yard shots is there on the properties I hunt.
