Finally went and bought a maverick 88 the other day after having my pal for a year. Anything you guys recommend to add to it? I've seen the heat shields, i think i'm gonna add one of those, maybe a differnt stock.

Enjoy!!

Hey good choice, the maverick 88 was my ferst shot gun to and so far the only shoty that I own.
The one thing that I can think of to recomend is that you may want to change the recoil pad, I put one on that was made from Pachmayr and what a differance it made, I can now shoot slugs all afternoon.

Congrat's and good luck with the new shoty

Play safe and have fun

Personally I'd stear clear of the heatshield. Unnecessary weight that does nothing to improve performace. A good sling, perhaps some fibre optic or tritium sights and plenty of ammo are great starts.

Heatshields can prevent your hand from getting burnt.

Getting burnt is not fun.

Getting burnt can degrade performance.

In fact, I'd guess that a person who would say that a heatshield "does nothing to improve performance" probably couldn't even spell performance.

You need to shoot a looooot of shells before it's getting so hot to burn yourself. And why would you be shooting so much so fast? I agree, with a pump, there's very little reason why your hand would be touching the barrel.

+1 for the heat sheild. I put on on my shotguns to look cool....then after having it on I realized how nice it is for not burning my arm or thumb on it every now and then self on it after a day of firing it.

It IS however useless if your just firing a couple of shots at a time and it has time to cool down. Hogue forends are very nice. A clip on front fibre optic site.

Wholse sale has a nice heatsheild.
