Got My First Toy!!! (PICS)

I get the transfer number and take it to the range with me and it is all good for non-restricted only. Restricteds have a be approved so you are not clear for a few days. This info is straight from the CFO last week. I could not wait to shoot my new gun so they told me to keep the transfer ref # with me in case there was a question by a police officer or range officer.

Just got off the phone with a very lovely woman at Frontier Firearms putting my first rifle a Savage Mark II Mako .22lr on layaway until my license comes in. Also can't wait for that(it's in the snail mail currently).

If your license is in the mail, then you already have a PAL number, which you can obtain by calling CFC 1800-731-4000, talk to an operator in licensing.

Then you can call Frontier, give them your PAL number and other info, then they can ship/mail you the rifle. If you are in the store to pick-up the rifle, they may or may not ask to see your PAL and DL to confirm if you are who you say you are, depending on whether they know you or not.

If buying from an individual, you can do an internet application and usually gets approved while you are on-line, and still on the phone talking to the operator, who will be on the same screen as you. She can walk you through the process. Did this on a recent transfer and immediately got my New Reg. Cert. No. on the printout. She gave me a Reference No. as well.

The CFC stated when I got my PAL just a couple months ago that they will NO LONGER be giving out PAL numbers over the phone.

My license already came last week anyways so it's all good. The guy at frontier said my rifle should be here by Wednesday. Order was put through Friday so it sat in the post office all weekend in Prince Albert haha :(

Son of a nutcracker! My rifle arrived while I was at work and now I can't pick it up until tomorrow haha. I'll probably go to the post office tonight anyways and see if I can work my charm.

My postal notices say pickup next day but I have always gone that night and it was there for me. GO check tonight after supper. Mine closes at 9 pm so I usualy go at 8:30

+1. I have often gone the same afternoon and they already had it entered in the system. I would try it on the way home from work just in case it is good to go.

Got it! :d

So here it is! I couldn't be more pleased with it. It is super comfortable and I love the stock. I mounted my scope already and also took out the action and barrel to sand down some of the bits that the dremel they used on the fin cutouts left so that the barrel is completely free floating. I'm going out to shoot it this weekend weather permitting and I have a feeling this week will go by slowly lol.

Sorry for the bad pics but I am not good at taking photos nor do I have a good camera. Bad lighting too.

Something I got while helping my clean my grandpa's basement because he moved into a apartment. It's a knife made out of a .50cal casing. I thought it was kind of cool haha. I also got a .50cal ammo can and another casing(I think its a 7.62x39) where the "bullet" comes out and is a small blade.

Nice Mako DrJones. I have one in .17HMR and the thing is crazy fun on ground squirrels, somedays feels like a guy can't miss :) I would like to have swivel posts on mine as well for a bi pod but have just been using shooting sticks and it's been working out pretty good.

Sounds like you got a better deal than me too. I didn't get a hardcase just some random cardboard box :(

I think it depends on who you talk to. I got mine over the phone but I have heard of many people not being able to get it. Either way no harm in trying.

I called in many times during the wait between approval and getting my license in the mail hoping this was true, all of the representatives I talked to politely refused to give me my license number. I guess you can always try though.

So how exactly do you guys that have this rifle clean it haha? My cleaning rod is having trouble fitting in through the breach because such a high taper on the butt stock lol.
