Got My Glock!!! :)

You know what's kind of odd. Most Glocks look the same. Outside of a few minor personal touches(like the slide plate above) everyone's Glock is pretty well identical. However, I still find myself looking at every thread where someone has posted a pic of their Glock. Its like a train wreck, you just can't look away...

Great purchase for your first gun. You'll love it. I know I keep saying this on different posts but the only reason I can see anyone bad mouthing this piece of perfection is because they want to be different or they just want to get a rise out of people. There may be about 1% that got one that was made during a glitch in the production line. LOL

Have fun! Here's mine..

I started with a G17, it was actually my very first gun. I used it for my IPSC black badge course and the first two qualifiers. Then I gave it to my son (14yrs old) so he could use it for his black badge course. Of course, I had to get a new gun so we could both shoot IPSC at the same time. So I got the G20C, and a Stormlake .40cal barrel. This way I could shoot super hot loads with the 10mm ported barrrel for sh!ts and giggles, and then use the non-ported .40cal barrel for shooting Major in the Standard category in IPSC. My next Glock will be a G29.

TDC, I know you will have some wisdom for me.

The 9mm seems too small. I know I will never use it for anything other that putting holes in paper but...I like the power of the .45 and .40 seems like a good compromise between the two?

The 9mm is cheap which makes it really appealing. And the lowest I've seen the G17 and G22 is $625 new.

How do you feel about the extended model barrels? The G34, G35, G24?

The 9x19mm cartridge is more than adequate for shooting people or animals. That being an unlikely role for your pistol, we won't discuss that. You indicate you like the power of the 40/45 cartridges so we'll stick with those.

Keep in mind that both of those calibres will cost you significantly more to shoot over the 9x19mm. If you can afford it, go for it. The .45ACP Glocks (21, 30, 36) have a noticeably larger frame size over the "standard" sized frames that are available in both 9x19m and .40S&W.

The extended models are more for looks in my opinion. I haven't seen anyone or any extended model pistol shoot any better than the standard size, or compact and sub compact models for that matter. Barrel length and sight radius on a handgun are non issues for the ranges in which the handgun will be used.

As for conversion kits, all I can suggest are the major suppliers. Last I heard on other forums is that Advantage Arms and Ceiner were behind on production. Two buddies of mine have the Advantage Arms kits and they run very well. Another buddy had the Ceiner kit and it wouldn't run at all. He returned it for a refund.

I got my AA conversion kit from sugerfreebob.com. Lots of other good things for Glocks on that site too.
I polished my AA kit just for sh!ts and giggles.:D

Hey CobraGT,
Where did you get the G29? How do you like it? I think it's going to be my next purchase. Good for CCW in the States. I really want to try one out and see how it fits etc. I'm wondering if I should wait for the G29SF version.

Actually bought it here on the EE a couple of years ago :) I love mine... if the G20 fits your hand, no need to wait for an SF version, though I guess it would be slimmer for concealed carry. It's not really a small gun - this version's not that much smaller overall than the G19.
