Got my GSG-16 today what a pile of

Could you print this up?

ICS airsoft full metal front on its way, pretty sure it will fit with minor mod, when done ill post it.

Has anyone out there found metal/aluminum rails for the GSG-16? The polymer rails are tragically flimsy…

P.S. for any of you concerned with weight, there’s a 1lb hunk of steel in the grip of the GSG-16 which can be easily removed…

If you add bags .22 ammo or metal pieces in the pistol grip and hollow fixed stock, the firearm feels way more realistic. Drop da Bomb has 3D printed rails with extended tabs inside the plastic halves that make optics mounting more rigid. If you swap out the Poly rails the factory brass receiver inserts will pull out.

I’ve noticed the poly rails will contort with very, very little effort. With a scope or red dot mounted, it feels like the rail could easily snap off, and certainly not return the optic to zero.

Unscrew the plate on the bottom of the grip and have a look inside.

Okay, you got me to get the thing out and remove the bottom of the grip. And? Was I supposed to find a pound of steel in there? Was there such a thing inside yours? I see no trace of anything ever having resided there, besides the bolt fixing the grip to the rest of the gun or whatever it does.

You are about a month early to pull an April fool prank. Lol.

I owned four of these and none came with anything inside the grip.

Maybe you bought yours used and the previous owner put some weight in.

That would be a great April Fool’s joke, but I’m serious that mine had a cylindrical black chunk of steel in the grip. Bought new from a dealer. It’s the BlueLine import. It weighs 1lb.

… If you look back in the thread there is about a 1lb discrepancy in the spec from the earlier model (assuming) to the later model (assuming).321B2754-848A-45D2-A58A-D710AAC5BC9E.jpg

What an odd thing to do. Well I suppose the dealer must have had a reason for putting that there. To make the gun feel more 'real' perhaps? But what a clunky thing. I happen to like how light my GSG-16 feels, and have never had the slightest worry about it looking or feeling 'real' whatever that means. As in real steel? It's a plastic fun plinker in .22lr, why would it need to be heavier?

All Cabela.ca versions come with that chunk of steel.

I highly doubt the dealer added the weight… It’s a well-machined, blued piece of steel, most likely from the manufacturer…

I picked up a 9in. barrelled version the 17th. from Cabelas. No steel plug in the grip, btw...may have been a Cabelas thing in past, but not now. Seems to be a decent little plinker, although the shorter barrel is no fond of lower velocity ammo. CCI stingers work great, but I ran some older ammo at 1250fps, and had a FTE every 5-7 rounds.
