Got my M88 today and had to go shooting (first gun). Got two pictures of my one target for you to judge.

First two rounds I flinched as I didn't have the rifle properly seated but I quickly fixed that problem. Had to stop shooting as the wind was blowing my rifle and gear around. Plan on doing some shooting next week so I'll see how I do.

Need to get a felt pen so I can mark off my bullets better next time around

there's a little more to the story then that. the first two shots were on paper already put up...they hit within the second ring, upper left (I was on the spotting scope).

I recognize the need to use felts when marking the paper (that's my scribble too). we were shooting cheap Winchester Super X 150g. anyhow, we put up new paper at 25yards to sight in the Tasco 4x32 it came with. first shot was the lower center. second shot went to the upper right and hit the metal beam behind the board the target was stapled to and the shrapnel ricochet is seen in the upper left. the next 3 shots made that lil clover leaf in the bullseye. :D

then on a whim we fired on a board we drew a target on at 100 yards. like the first two shots, he hit the upper left of the larger (second) circle.

then as he said it got too windy. we packed up. LOL!

For those too lazy to click ;)

Good first time out, but seriously, how windy was it? First time with my 300Win Magnum, was in a snow storm and I still put 2 boxes of ammo out there. Cowboy up and burn some powder dammit!

I dunno if you plan to hunt game bigger than deer/blackies with that rifle, but heck....I wouldn't bother to handload for it or try many other loads unless I went for elk or moose. Just use that 150 PowerPoint ammo and drop deer out to 300+ yards. Nice.

Very Windy

How windy was it? Well the wind had started to rip my target off the board but this is the kicker blew my rifle off the table.....I caught it before it hit the ground and blew my open box of ammo on to the ground along with my soft leather gun case and was shaking the spotting scope and mount. So it was VERY WINDY out there, though this weekend but I plan on putting a bunch more thought the rifle along with my Ithica .22 when I go up to Heffley Gun Club to check out the range with a member. So I'll let you all know soon if it was a fluke or if I'm actually that good ;)

Wow! It must have been seriously windy to knock your rifle off the table! I take it theres no shelter out where you two shoot? All in all though, looks like ya did some good shooting.

none at the public range as some morons would probably shoot it up so just some tables, 25, 100 and 110 yard markers

Glad to hear you aren't coming out of surgery getting schrapnel dug out of your flesh. Perhaps a sacrifical WOOD stand is in order for the next trip. Not trying to seem like an ass here, just want you to be safe. At 25yds you could wear alot of that flak and look like your target.

Looks like good shooting so far. :)

Were you at the Batchelor Heights "range/garbage dump"? Join the KTSA range. Very nice facility and right in town.

Yup was at the dump range but only cause its 10 minutes away and we only had a few hours to shoot but the wind cut that down to even less time. I kind of need a member to show me around the KTSA as I can't find how much it would cost a visitor to shoot not to mention if they even have a visitor policy and I've never been to a range so I have no knowledge of whats required of me.

The metal post is what was installed so I'm gonna have to bring up my own post to use each time once I get around to building it (1/2" plywood on a 2x4 T frame :D

I'm planning on entering LEH next year I want to go for Moose and Elk maybe a sheep depends on the cost and such.

Got to go out and pick of some food as my cousin (and her husband) I haven't seen in 5-8 years in coming over for dinner

But I'll still be around today. Don't know if I'll be shooting anything I got a little migraine.

To be a guest at either the indoor or outdoor KTSA ranges, you must be with a member. Prior to getting access to the ranges with a new membership, you will have an orientation. It is quick and painless. You get a run down on the rules and regulations and receive your range key. It is the only range to belong to in Kamloops, in my opinion. Hangun range up to 50m, archery range, 500m rifle range, and an indoor 20m range. You can get the application for online from the Kamloops Target Sports Association website.
