The man in the white van showed up at my door today and delivered my new Bushnell Elite 1500 Rangefinder. I had done a lot of research into rangefinders and decided on this model. This has all the capabilities I will ever make use of in a rangefinder. First off I was surprised at how small the unit actually is. Weight with battery is 11 ounces. Optics are very clear with a 27mm objective and 7X magnification. One added feature I thought was a great idea is a threaded hole on the bottom for a camera tripod for extra stability....you know...for the Hog fields. The targeting modes are quite helpful for pinpoint accuracy. I was looking through some brush that read 78Y however I wanted to range the sign that was way in behind said brush. From regular mode to "Brush" mode it was able to read through the brush to the sign 554Y away. Ideal for deer or moose just on the inside of the trails or power lines. Still kinda playing with features and functions but thus far am very happy with this purchase. Furthest distance read was a large bilboard sign at 1421Y.

I did purchase it from Wholesale sports. I paid $478 with taxes and shipping. It took 8 days to get here. I think i have all the features figured out and they work great.
One thing I learned though is that a really bright sunny day will actually hinder its performance. slightly cloudy or overcast and it reads further. Its bouncing an infrared laser light off an object and back. If its too bright, it screws with the recived light signals. The same billboard I ranged at 1421 yards could only be ranged to 1150ish on a really bright day.
According to Bushnell this is common with all rangefinders, not just this model.Just passing on what they told me.

I'm still very happy with this new toy. Still having lots of fun with it. I managed to range a white cow (the mooo mooo variety) at 523 yards once. The black one didn't pick up so well at that distance.
