**got my new Remington m700 Titanium**

Todd, really interested in your impressions of the rifle after hitting the range. Pretty effective gun for your part of the country.
I see your "buddies" are on you, again!

Buying an "all around" rifle?

What the hell is happning to the world?

I know  Pretty soon he's going to be saying things like "they haven't made a cartridge that hasn't duplicated something else in the last 80 years".

And, "you know the magnumitis these days is good for the gun industry but that's about it".

Or, "there ain't no trouble that a man can't fix with a thousand dollars and a thirty ot six!"

tod, you didn't just spot your first grey hair or somethin did you :p

well I got back from the range with my Titanium 30-06

fired 20 rounds of assorted ammo (110 gr. Hornady Vmax, 150 gr. Swift Scirocco, 168 gr. Nosler J4) without cleaning at all between shots

recoil wasn't too bad, I can feel my shoulder after 20 rounds though, feeding it a diet of mainly 150's @ 2700 fps  A session with full house 180 or 200 gr. handloads might give me some fun :D

One group with the 150 gr. Swift Scirocco over 48.0 grs. of H4895 (Federal Gold Medal case/Federal 210M primer) shot into 1.2" @ 100 meters. That is what I'd expect out of a hunting load from this lightweight rifle. Velocity was 2762 fps avg. (few grains off max).

150 gr. Scirocco @ 1.2"

Shot another group with the Nosler 168 gr. J4 match bullet over 57.0 grs. H4350. Three shots into 1.45", (bottom 2 shots are the end of my session, two rapid fire shots with the 110 gr. Hornady Vmax over RL15...3350 fps @ .32")

168 gr. J4 @ 1.45"

Overall impressions so far is that this rifle is gonna hunt. Super light and fast handling, the thing is a feather in my hands. When I get the action bedded and experiment with some handloads I have little doubt this rifle will print sub MOA 3 shot groups from a rest. Looks really cool too.

I like the twist flute bolt, that is cool.

You shoudl get a sissy pad fo ryour shoulder, They really help when doing extended range sessions with snappy recoiling rifles..

:D

I ain't no sissy

I'm gonna clean the tube and load up some more Scirocco's with H4895, sight in for 225 yards, then go deer hunting for a few days this weekend.

Congrats.
One thing though does the Titanium not come with a B&C stock already pillar bedded?Mine in .270 is But I got mine about 4 years ago. Just wondering if yours is not bedded if they stopped bedding to reduce cost .
BTW Any one have a good 35 cal bbl.I'm looking to conver mine to a 35 Whelen improved.
regards

it has an aluminum bedding block, but I think it would still greatly benefit from having the barrel full length bedded. from what I've read, light wispy barrels tend to respond best to FL bedding, as opposed to a forend pressure point or free floating

Todd,
If you were only going to load it down to 2700 fps with a 150, why not just buy a 308? I'm sure that bullet/velocity combination will kill deer dead, but why?

have you had it out of the stock.....?...the two Ti stocks I had did not have the bedding block...just a couple aluminium sleeves around the screw holes...

Todd, how do you like the Lightweight Talley ring/base setup? Did you have to lap your rings in or did they fit well from the get go?
bigbull

Todd,
How is the stock configured compared to a mountain rifle. it looks a little flatter through the pistol grip. If the stock of a mountain rifle fits will the stock from the TI.
In a weak moment I agreed to sell my 260 Mountain rifle LSS to a buddy who has back problems and can't handle recoil anymore. I wonder if one of these would make an able replacement, the light varmint synthetic stock doesn;t fit me at all.
Give me your impressions.
thks
Martin
