I paid $939.99 + taxes and $80.00 for the grip.
Not really, that's their going rate. If I was looking for a 'combat-style' .22 it would be between that and the Kadet, 'round the same price. I think both are worth it (or a S&W 17) esp compared to the "SIG" mosquito (quotations emphasized)

Thats what the wife says to me as well. Im just attracted to the bran. They fit nice in my hand they there quality/finish is awsome.

I know it sounds pricy but im sure it is worth every penny. This is my 3rd rimfire pistol. When i started shooting i first bought a Norinco M93; It was ok to learn and to shoot but it was unable to fire 10 rounds without a "jam". I sold it and bought a Ruger Mark 3 Stainless; This gun was great exept for the time that i had to field strip it and re-assemble it, what a pain in the a**. So i got sick of it sold it and bought this Beretta.

You are going to enjoy it. For others reading this thread, the 87 and 89 have a very different "feel" than pistols such as the S&W 41, and other "target" type guns. Much more of an action shooting feel than a target feel.
In the future you might consider changing the trigger to the Model 89 trigger.

The wood grip feels bigger and fatter than the original grip plus it as a "thumb rest" which is really nice. And it does feel like wood not like plastic. I bought the grip from my local gun store. He ordered it from is "Beretta supplier/Wholesaler" I was going to order it from beretta USA 's web site but the product is back ordered. A little pricy for a grip but i really like the look of it and the feel in the hand.
