Just got my kit today:) Will be the perfect complement for my unissued(but to be fired soon) M44 1955. Tools are same as any Mosin kit except for the canvas ammo pouch, very well made btw. I should receive another unissued polish M44 by the end of the week, but will remain unissued:D

Good on you, Jocelyn! Nice looking rifle with original kit. Thats the way its supposed to be. I like the old square bottles. I have one from pre WW1, still with oil .

Those Poles are so good looking!
The kit looks good too.
Does it all fit into that square bag nicely?
I haven't see one of those before.

The tools and oiler fit well in the little pouch, tight but everything go in. I probably wont use the sling since i have already one on the carbine and my second M44 will have one also. Cant wait to shoot that M44:)

Mind if I ask where you got it? Does one of the dealers currently carry these?

I bought one at LeBaron here in Montreal many years ago (10 maybe?)... same rifle, brand new and unissued Polish M44 still packed with grease (with the same kit) for $99 before tax. Tip: when you clean it, remember to save all the heavy grease it came with, the bore should be packed full of it... there was so much of it in mine that I still have some around in a little container I kept my gun maintenance box!

There was one part that I didn't like about that particular purchase though: I should've bought more! These truly are the finest Mosins ever made... as they have the simlicity of a Mosin-Nagant and the workmanship of a Mauser. I remember reading an old article in Gun Digest where the author went to some South American country and met up with a General... and supposedly that General had a Polish M44 as a personal carry rifle, even though he could've had every other rifle in the world, more or less. He believed it was the best rifle to trust his life to.

Congrats on a great acquisition!

We can appreciate the finish, manys sporting rifles would die to be finished like that! (the discoloration is due because of lightning, i'm not a good photographer:redface: )

Interesting that yours both have the metal insert in the sling slots. My 53 doesn't have them. Mine has been shot so now I need an unissued one too. Nice find.

I have been looking for the kit.....where did you find yours?

I bought a new one of these in the late 80's when LeBaron brought them in. As I recall I paid $80. Yes, it was loaded with cosmoline which took me a couple of hours to clean out but it was worth it. Beautiful bluing for a military gun and dated 1953. I fully intended to shoot it but it looked so good I didn't have the heart to (when does one get a chance to buy an unissued milsurp firearm?). So I looked around for a used one and found a twin but "as new" (fired a few times) and it became my shooter. Both are still gorgeous firearms. I should have bought a crate of them.

Keep your eye on the EE. I bagged mine for $200 about a month ago. I was shocked because the listing had already been there long enough to be bumped once. Either that or contract Jocelyn to find you one.:) He's not going to leave any for us.:(

I'm trying to find the kit for mine now. I'm not having any luck on Ebay.

The problem is finding the whole tools. Polish ammo pouch, oiler, firing pin gage tool and sling can be found quite easily, its the remaining small parts that are harder. I dont think i need more polish now:p But i will keep eyes open just in case:rockOn:
