I know the obvious differences. I like the size and look of the 34 but is there any difference in reliability? Any advantages in the fact that sig still makes the 226 as far as replacement parts and accessories i.e. holsters/grips? Any insight is appreciated.
 
When I got my restricted I spent some time on the range with range guns. I shot Glock, SIG, CZ S&W, a dozen different 1911 models. I bought what I shot best. It seems to me, the more aftermarket parts that are available for a firearm, the more it needs them.
The Norincos are really nice if you want to learn gunsmithing. They need some work out of the box.
Holsters and grips are easy. Buy whatever works for you.
 
My first pistol was the Norinco 1911 in 9mm.... it ran perfect until I got the 10 round mags. They did not like the gun at all. So I sold it a got a Glock lol.

Glock 35 was my first beast. What a shooter and fairly accurate as well......
 
Of the two..I preferred the np-22.. more asthetics than anything else...but it ran flawlessly for many rounds...in fact it was so good I had to have the sig...side by side it really was hard to see a difference....obviously shooting and handling there was....I think it's one of Norinco's best products..

You can't take either of those Norincos to the USA. The Sig, you could.

I own an np34. it works good and is very reliable. its perfect to get you started in the hobby since its cheap but after you shoot something else you will see the difference. its a good beginners gun

Yeah, but most average joe's don't care about that, and at 20% the price of a real Sig, that is a big deal. Why buy Tylenol at $8/30 when you can be the same amount at Walmart brand for $5? I see buying a real Sig if you compete et al, but cmon, give us a break. I'd much rather have 5 different Norinco's than a single Sig. But that is just me. I have had real good experiences with ALL my Norinco's and so your mileage may vary. I don't competitively shoot, and the cheaper option suits me just fine. It comes down to shooting a Norinco or not shooting at all sometimes in life.
 
I bought a NP34. They were 14% off already with free shipping and I used a 15% coupon. I got one to my door for under 350$

Take advantage of SFRC 15% coupon.
 
I've had two NP34s with rail and without. No issues with either. Decent gun for ~$300 on a used market. If you can spent $500 (or less) and get a Girsan Beretta copy IMO you will be much happier in the long run. It's a much better gun in every way. Fit and finish between the two is night and day.

Thanks for all the input! Just went with an np22 from tenda on sale. Going to try the filing of actual p226 mags and c how it works out.

Thanks for the other sudgestions but Just love the look of sigs and cant turn down at the price point! Grew up with 80's and 90's action movies and if norinco could copy some nice john mcclane beretta 92's I would be all over lol!
