Well, the little 30-30 finally arrived. It looks just like how I remember. It even came with the original owner's manual and the saddle ring in a little plastic bag. There is, however, something missing. It's the little ladder piece that goes under the rear sight, I don't know the name of it. Does anyone know where to get one? Have any of you just replace the rear sight with a better one, if so, what do you suggest?

Glad to hear you got it! I might have a rear sight ramp for you but I will have to search for it, I know I did at one time. Wanna sell me the saddle ring :p :D

Thanks, and sorry, but the saddle ring stays!;)

The other thing that is missing is the leather sleave, but luckily I have my old one. For some reason the thief didn't take it.

It appears the rifle was made in Canada. Were model 94's regularly made here?

Winchester has had factories worldwide producing the some of the finest firearms known. One of these factories was in Cobourg, Ontario Canada. During the period 1970 through 1982, this factory also produced commemorative Model 94 rifles and carbines for the Canadian market. These commemoratives were produced in relatively fewer numbers than the U. S. editions and were only available in Canada. Some of these commemoratives have made it "south of the border" and comprise their own group within the collection, however, they are fairly scarce. All of the United States issues have been produced at the original New Haven, Connecticut plant.

Found this for you.

I had a quick look for the sight ramp in the gun room, no luck. I will look again and if I come across it I will let you know.

Good luck with your new toy or should I say old toy ;)

Congradulations 1899, glad you finally got it. I don't think you'll have much trouble finding a sight ladder. Try Western Gun Parts. But while you're at it order a dovetail plug so that your complete rear sight can be safely stored somewhere, and a receiver peep sight installed.
