Sorry for the manual, we are still working on translation, most of it already translated and we hope it will be on the website very soon.

For the rail installation we recommend to drill the receiver with a drill bit #29 for 8-32 thread (screws are attached).

DO NOT USE HAND-HELD DRILL, USE ONLY DRILL PRESS.

Please follow the instructions on the website on suggested mounting to SKS.

If you can find an 8-40 tap that will put more threads in the reciever wall. If not, 8-32 will do just fine. Careful, those recievers can be quite hard, take your time and use a good drilling lube!

Got Joe @ Dlask to install mine and it works great but the instruction paper should have been on the back of the packaging. I would try calling Dlask and asking the or try PM'ing Dr.Lector as he some times does this from time to time if your nice to him.

I installed one of the choate mounts on my sks. It required a 8-40 tap which I found hard to find. I Got mine at Cabelas for around $18.00 for the tap and drill bit. (What a ripoff) The bit looked to be a regular hss bit which didn't even dent the receiver. I purchased a cobalt bit a while ago for drill and tapping a stainless barrel. Worked well on the stainless barrel but had a bit of a time on the sks reciever. The bit broke twice, lucky that there was enough to resharpen. The tap worked excellent on the stainless but also broke on the sks receiver, again there was enough to resharpen. Make sure you use lots of lube And take your time. To this day I have personally never drilled into any steel as hard as the sks material.

I just installed my Choate mount on my Yugo SKS and the mount comes with 8-40 socket head screws which are not standard up here.
however I talked with my retired mechanical engineer/gunsmith friend about this and he suggested using the more standard 8-36 tap
I did this and it works fine in fact the slight additional resistance in screwing an 8-40 into an 8-36 simply makes the screw hold much better (which you want for a scope mount anyway)
also I used an old trick another old gunsmith taught me years ago when drilling case hardened or just plain hard surfaced steel
it requires a dremel tool with a very small grindstone attachment with which you carefully grind/mark the surface of the steel where you want to drill and tap your holes.
this usually makes the drilling easier
when you are tapping make sure you carefully turn the tap about a 1/4 turn at a time then back it off then repeat the process all the way till you are done use lots of a good quality cutting fluid like rapid-tap
BTW get an 8-36 American made Not chinese tap they are about 7 bucks at a machine shop supply store

And do not forget to use the right recommended diameter pre-drill bit because with these very fine threads, too small a pilot hole almost guarantees tap breakage.
Better, just drill your pilot hole and use the press drill (manually) to hold the tap with just a very slight push on the handle.
