Got my Star Super B... Pictures up...

At what distance do you shoot your Star Super B? I shoot mine at 20 METERS and have 1 or 2 shots outside of the outer 6 ring with every ammo I use (also tried 147gr). I shoot at a 20 YARD timed and rapid fire handgun target.
One culprit could be a heavy trigger pull (10 lbs) in my Star. Did you measure a trigger pull in yours?

I shot at 17 yard, this distance being a natural easy at my range, the trigger of my Super B is good and crisp at 6.5 pounds...

If i do my part, a 2 inch cluster is possible, we are not in Les Baer territory here but like i said with 147 gr, it's very satisfactory, there is something about shooting a surplus handgun that perform... JP.

O.K. Thanks for sharing some important details. Apparently, a trigger pull in my Star is a way too heavy. I must do something about that. I'll also try shooting at 15-17 yards and see what grouping I could get. The maximum length of my range is exactly 20 meters so I went to the extreme.

Guys, I received my replacement Star Model B Super today.

Can't be more happy ! This one is really nice. The trigger is also very-very good, I would say in the 6-7 pound range, maybe better.

Tomorrow, I will give it a good cleaning and measure the trigger pull.
Will post pics once its done.

Kudos to Tradeex !

I thought this was the same gun in Pulp Fiction, but I'm reading that it was the "Model B", not "Super". This deal still looks like a steal for a 9mm pistol, unfortunately, I don't really like 1911 style pistols. It sounds like it has a very thin grip, also a problem with my large hands.

All I can tell you is that I wear an L size gloves which are usually a bit tight for me and I've never had any problems with gripping my Star Super B. It fits into my hands like a glove (no pun intended). The Star Super B is not exactly the 1911. For example, it does not have a grip safety like the original Colt 1911 has. The Star's grip is not VERY thin. Only a bit slimmer than that of the Colt 1911. However, the Star's grip is quite long which fits my wide hands very nicely.
My $0.02

This preservative stuff must be good because its really hard to remove completely.
There still a couple areas that I can't reach ( inside ).

I measured the trigger pull and I'm sure you won't beleive me...
Its 3 pound 8 ounces. I did it 10 times and the lowest is 3 pound 7 ounces and the highest is 3 pound 9 ounces.
I first thought my trigger pull gage was broken. I measured the trigger pull on my bone stock CZ 75 SP01 Shadow and the result is 4 pounds, right where it should be.

So 3 pounds 8 ounces !!!

I'm so much in love now with this pistol that I think I will order a set of Marschal grips.

After a couple of hours of cleaning...

So is the quality on these pistols hit or miss? And are they reliable or jam-o-matics

My Star Super B has never jammed with a variety of ammo like PMC Bronze, Blazer, Winchester bulk, WASP bulk, IMI and a few others. However, a trigger pull weight on mine is around 10 lbs, much higher than the one reported by ben777lemay above. Otherwise, the pistol is impeccable.

From what i saw on the net, those who jam are the 9mm converted Model B not the Model B Super which was designed to be in 9mm.
I also think average trigger pull is around 6.5 pounds.

I don't know why mine is so low but i'm very happy it is low.

Who cares about the trigger pull. These guns were designed to be the work horses of the Spanish Armed Forces. My dad carried one in the Spanish Airforce. Spain's 3 main gun manufacturers Star,Astra and Llama were once proud houses with long history and divisions during the civil war and Fanco's time. Bad business dealings and cheap contracts with SA countries all but destroyed these companies. Long story short they are tough, well built guns, by knowledgable craftsmen and factories with long proud histories. They weren't meant to be pretty but to do their jobs. It bugs me to see how undervalued these guns are. We are lucky to have access to this.

For those who may be interested, I do have couple of original NOS Super B walnut grips for sale in the EE. It will also fit the Super Model.

FWIW, after reading that Star B's are capture-refurbs it's worth mentioning that Alan Lever brought in a bunch
that were X- West German Police, mint and complete with the holster which sported a quick-draw pull tab. They
were about $100 IIRC. Never saw one jam and they would cycle with some real pipsqueak reloads as well as
full power stuff. Speer soft lead 124 grain would group nice even though they went through the paper sideways.
Sadly, two Liberal voters stole mine. A super B fits in the holster perfectly.
