I finally bought one of theses Wedge Colts. :D
I swore i would never get one but theses are Quite a big Revolver for a RF and this one is pretty nice id say!
Its a Factory 38 RF conversion.
Very tight unit i just picked it up Tonight :)
Orignal silver plated.
Locks up like new apparently.

Only thing wrong with it is its missing the wedge screw not a big deal really.
Comes with its own Flap holster to.
Anyone here got and shoot a 1862?
Its intresting that the 1849 and 1862 Police models Colt used the same frame! I found out that the 1862 cylinders are longer tho and they just took the 1849 Frames and made that Step down at the front so they could use a larger Cylinder.
Very intresting guns.
I happen to have a box of Orignal BP 38 RF ammo.
but will make my own outa 38 Cases.

Its the Stage coach one i think.
The wilson book of Colts lists Production of this 38 RF 3.5 inch colt at only 3000.
So thats not a real common gun.
The seller shot it at 15 Yds with old BP 38 RF ammo and shot 10 shots into a 6 inch group free hand.

Good enough to get the Deed done i guess :D
 
Dingus, have you shot it yet? If you plan to, are you making your own ammo? I'd be curious to see what it looks like if you are able to post a photo of the ammo. I'd also like to see how accurate it is. Nice find! When are you opening the West Coast Museum of Antique Firearms? (heh, heh)
