I'm going to put this here because It seems that this person that ripped me off is praying on Hunters and Collectors. I recently made a Purchase from someone on a different site on an Add. This person went by the name Dan Smith and has an Outlook account of hannibalsmith99@outlook.com I'm not the only one he has ripped off from what I can see on comments on this site.

Lucky for me it was only 150 dollars. I see he is also going under the name now of Steve Kelly.

If you run into a guy under that email or either names stay clear. He had sent me pictures of certain things I had asked him to do with the rifle like putting a shell in the chamber to check if the rifle was shot out and he did so. Very weird to say the least. My mistake was I used EMT for the first time and should have known better.

Just a heads up to all you Nutz out there

Hey OP aka EEMaster (ironic?), it seems to me you're only giving half the info. Do you have this guys address? Did you drop off the gun in a park to have work done? Did buddy perform some work and you're dissatisfied with the work?

In the future maybe stick to this site, and what the heck, show some appreciation by making a donation 8)

Just my 2c

I never had any work done on any rifle it was a purchase and luckily I only lost 150 and another guy got scammed for 350. Read the post before you comment

Don't blame EMT. It worked the way it is supposed to. I wouldn't give up... I am assuming you exchanged all the information required for a firearm transaction... full name, date of birth, PAL number, address. Give that to the police.

Off the topic slightly but you said, "He had sent me pictures of certain things I had asked him to do with the rifle like putting a shell in the chamber to check if the rifle was shot out and he did so."

Can you explain how, by putting a shell in the chamber, you can tell if the rifle is shot out?

Ok I reread your post, I think I got it this time: "People get ripped off online, Use EMT with caution, if a deal seems to go to be true it likely is, don't use untrustworthy websites, a friend in need is a friend in deed."

Any update on what the police said? I'm guessing "Nothing we can do".

If you drop a shell in the chamber it should never fall right down there is resistance there if it falls all the way down you have problems. I maybe worded that wrong it not going to tell you if the barrel is shot out but its going to tel you there is major problems and you don't want to buy it.

It's something a friend of mine showed me and I always use that as a test.

I'm not trying to scare people from using EMT but this is reality its a lot easier to rip someone off using EMT then it is COD thats all im saying. I should have got more info from the guy no doubt and looked up on it. That's my fault and you live and learn but this is more about helping others out so it doesn't happen to them. The guy ripped off another guy using the exact same information. He had called the guy but got no answer just an answering machine message with the same name the guy stated so I guess he figured that was good enough.

Later on he found out that the guy just used a name and address out of the phone book to look legit. It's too bad I learn't my lesson I'll be a lot more cautious from this point forward.

I'm working with the other guy that got ripped off to press charges but i'm pretty sure nothing will happen unless others also come forward. He seems to think that if the police get a warrant they can get the bank account info from interac and find out who this guy is. Personally I think a lot more money will have to be scammed and put forward before the RCMP investigate 500 dollars is not even worth a charge its a misdemeanor. That's just what I think but I could be wrong.

Aha !

This forum surprises me every single day, with all the great stuff we can learn here.

It might even explain why you got ripped off. :)

Your theory on the chamber is wrong. I got guns that shells fall right in. Think about a single shot. You don't tap the round in the chamber

From the sounds of it this happened on an ad from another site so likely no Trader Rating to go by. Not to say it can't happen on this site but if you deal with people with high trader rating and high positive feed back you should be OK...........drop a shell in the chamber??...........never heard that one before.

I think the OP was refering to dropping a bullet down the barrel. If the bullet fell right through then yes the barrel is really really shot out. That said I see a lot of flaws in that test.

Umm, are you being serious here?
