got some magnum slugs :D

You can buy the lee moulds most anywhere that sells SG reloading stuff, I should pick one up. Theres others from Lyman and a few other brands too. Beer Drinker, do the slugs protrude from the hull once reloaded? And do you reuse the shot cup?

Nope, they sit under the plastic, and yes.. everything is reused, just pop that slug back on the old cup.

I'd get that lyman if I were you, my lee mold works, but it's cheaply made.. half of it is alluminum while the other half is steel which doesn't work well when you're constantly heating/cooling it, i've already had to repair it more than once.

i may try to make a few like that and see if i can make them work for me. once you get your camera sorted out perhaps you could make a writeup with pictures describing the process for those of us who are new to this stuff. are you using any sort of release agent in the mould to keep the slug from sticking to it? and what are you using to heat and melt the lead with?

My canon camera can take pics but my pc doesn't recognize the camera anymore, it will make that "dun dun" sound as I plug it in, but it won't give me an option to upload the pics anymore.. the window just doesn't apear for some reason.

Figure this bulls**t out for me, and i'll upload some pics and make a detailed tutorial.

does your computer have a memory card slot you can stick the memory card into?

and heres what id do, bottom left corner click that button, not sure what windows version youre on. click that then on that menu something that says my computer or computer. click that. itll open up a window with all the drives on it. now connect your camera and watch there, it should open up a new letter drive.

for example my computer has a c, d, and e drive. when i plug in my camera it opens on one called f, and i click that and find my pics in there and then copy and paste them to my computer.

no mem slot, I use usb. Tried.. my pc just makes that annoying "beep beep" sound, but no new drives show up.

One day it worked, the next day it didn't ... wtf?

I am not certain the Lyman 'foster' style slugs are designed to use the shot cups. I have a feeling they are designed to use the card wads. Does anyone know for sure?

You will probably have to uninstall/reinstall the Canon software / drivers. I had this happen to me when I removed the batteries for some dumb reason when I had my phone connected with the computer.

do you have the software the camera came with? better yet whats the model of it when i get back from work ill see if i can dig up a driver for you and ill send you a link for it if you dont have the disk.

also option b is to take the tower outside and put a few home made slugs into it :D

I figured the quality would be lacking for just 25 bucks vs. something like 80 for the lyman. IIRC the lyman makes a slug that looked similar to an airgun pellet, they seem popular

great video and it seems easy to make. think ill invest in the slug mould and a lead dripper. pretty sure after i make my first box of 100 itll have paid for itself

^They have a 'key drive' - what that amounts to is a built in partition in the base of the slug that allows the base of the shot cup to jam fit into this crossbeam in the base of the slug when it is fired. This allows the slug to more readily accept the rifling and impart spin to the slug as it's in the rifling of a 12 gauge barrel, while maintaining the 'weight forward' foster slug design. They also work very well in smoothbores from the reports I have heard. Another benefit of the 'crossbeam' design is that is is a more sturdy slug with regards to terminal ballistics imo.

I want an RCBS dipper now lolz. Nice piece of gear. :p

Check this vid out, better than any pictures I can ever take.

I didn't have the sound on (courtesy reasons) but I wonder why he sealed the shot cup to the slug in front? The way I reason it, the shotcup is not going to separate from the slug after it leaves the barrel. . . If it was me, I would have either pried open the crimp and resealed it later with wax, or cut off the crimp closer to the case mouth, cut back the shot cup petals and put a roll crimp on. Not that I have ever done a roll crimp. The way he sealed it in my opinion, there is now no crimp for the round, so the 'start pressure' is going to be erratic.

I am going to have to try this modification though to see if his way is good or not. ;)
