I have decided I want to get a 22 rifle and became interested in the CZ lineup. I have narrowed it down to the CZ 452 American, and the CZ 452Silhouette. The only thing I am wondering is if I will really need the cheek piece on the silhoutte rifle to raise my head up to be eye level with the scope? I'm a lean guy, and had to use a cheek piece on my remmy 700p to get eye level with the scope. Personally I like the wood stock better but would feel bad putting an add on cheek piece on it after. Have any of you tried both the American and the Silhouette models and how did you find them for eye level? Unfortunately I don't know anybody who has one up here.

For what it's worth I really like my silhouette. It's the only rifle I own with a synthetic stock. It feels really good and well balanced. The two have different dovetails if that is going to affect your decision, the American is 3/8 and the silhouette is 11mm or something like that.

I decided to go with the american vs the silhouette. I already have 2 synthetic stocked rifles, and decided to go with the nostalgic look of the wood stock. From what I've found out, the comb is straight back on the rear stock and should be able to get me eye level with the scope, as long as it's mounted low enough. I plan to use a scope with a 40mm obj or maybe even less, so a set of medium height rings should be ok. Now i just have to figure out what the tube diameter of a bushnell 3200 elite is, 1" or 30mm??

Good choice. I love mine!
