Well I got the time, Time Precision that is to mount yet another one of my Weaver T36 scopes on, luckily I had a silver one on hand to. Time presion custom built with a tuner on the business end, hopefully going to get out to the range one day after work this week to shoot some groups and get the tuner tuned. I figure she'll be a shooter. Right bolt left port design with a coned breech, going to be a chore loading it with big fingers but I'll Manage :D

Going to give the Lapua Circle X a go in this one, then shoot another 50 yard unlimited for Rishu before the end of the month :D

Kind of makes my Cowan look nice doesn't it :D oh and the precision ground coffee filled rear bag

Stay tuned for range reports

I have never seen a breech like that before.

Why do they make it like that?

I love the right bolt left port btw. Wish I could get myself a 7mm-08 like that.

coned breech

The upside of the coned breech is that your bolt face does not get all clogged up with wax, the downside is the wax has to go somewhere and with a cone it goes somewhere that makes it harder to get out.

Now, in theory, the cone, since your firing pin hole does not get clogged with wax, should remain more consistent in it's ignition.

In theory anyway.

Also the time action has two firing pins set 180 degrees from one another for a more consistant ignition. I'll take some pictures of the firing pin marks on the cases once I get out to shoot her.

Nice rifle Dave. Now all you need to do is get rid of that potato masher on the muzzle and stick that rifle into a Tac prone stock. See you on the 11th.

If it doesn't shoot then it will be a potatoe masher :D
Hey come on now I shoot prone from the bench

I just finished getting mine together last night. It'll be a day or so before I shoot it to give the epoxy a full curing period. I'll be ready for April 11th though!!:)

yodave,

Why do you buy bricks of untested ammo ? Shouldn't you just buy a few boxes of each available lots and do your testing instead ? Even with match ammo, you would be amazed of the accuracy variation from lot to lot...

Paul, it is not the only presicion mouth to feed :D

two bricks of ammo just about covers what I do at 50 and 100 yards with each rifle. As you probably know some ammo may work at 50 and go to hell at 100 and the opposite. Also once you start playing with tuners 100 rounds is just a drop in the bucket.

As far as I'm concerned, I first try to find which is the prefered lot of a rifle and only then do I start playing with the tuner, trying to improve the accuracy of the best lot I found.

Paul; I think that your approach is the best under most circumstances, particularly if a shooter owns one or possibly two bench rifles. However, if a shooter has 6 or 7 match type rifles, "almost" any lot of match ammo will shoot very well in at least one of these, so buying a bit larger quantity is not such a liability in the latter case. That being said, certain lot numbers seem to be "zingers" and when I discover one of these, I immediately lay in a good quantity, if it is available. Regards, Eagleye.

Ughh, another shooter for Dave, just what we all need... Just don't dry fire that coned breech :D

I haven't shot a single thing for the last two weeks, the flu bug bit me bad... :(

I agree with Paul, of course only if your a one gun nut of course. Multiple rimfires require a wee bit more ammo. When testing I also test myself with a know rifle/ammo combo to make sure I am on target in the first place.

Sorry to here about the flu Rishu, been there done that.

Hey Dave, give us a weather update.....
