Got this today!!!

What they are saying is you may be able to use standard 7.5x55 cases in your gun. If not, they will have to be trimmed back to 54 or perhaps 53.5mm and will you need to load on the very light side of things. You can buy a mold and cast bullets for this gun and use the same 13 grain red dot load that you shot out of my Ross on the weekend.

Until then standard bullets can be used will a light charge of H4895. I will probably try IMR 4895 as I already have that powder and have had great results using it in my .303s.

You are in luck, as you know I have that box of 7.5x55 brass in my reloading room for my brothers Schmit which is identical to yours. We will be getting dies very soon and I will be working on a load for my brothers gun in the near future. So I will have to share my findings with you after I do some testing.

In the mean time, start reloading .303 and i can give you pointers about that cartridge.

Just tried with a friend 35gr H4895, Win LR Primers, 178gr Hornady Amax with UN-TRIMMED 7.5x55 PRVI Brass in two 1889s tonight.
Left the range smiling.

haha, dont feel bad, i bought this thing thinking it was a 1911 which would have been cool cause ammo is available pretty well, then when diopter mentioned it was a 1889 i was like hmm, so i googled it and yupp took one look at the sight, its a swiss made rifle, i love it so far stripped it down last night used some furniture stripper and the pain literally fell off,

One question though, what do you guys think this is worth?

Mint up to $1000
In VG original condition no rust, no dings, $400-$S00.
VG sporterised stock $250-$350
Converted to 30-30 $50-$300.

By the way, If you ordered a 1911 stock with Guisan, better change it to an 1889 stock. He's got the flu right now so he won't be shipping for a few days.
